I bought Imate SPL a week back and have gotten sick with its list of bad features...Its got very low voice, and many a times I cannot even hear anything and this at the MAX Volume level. The keys reaction is slower (Courtesy Windows) and that means you cannot use it the way you would like to.The battery charge is very poor...it doesnot lasts long. I charged it and with less than 2-3 calls, the battery was showing nearly over within 24 hours. And these 2-3 calls were not over 2 minutes calls!! I feel cheated as Imate SPL is NOT A PHONE...but just a bit of a PDA. Its a product which doesnot really match up to the level of PDAs like a CASIO or a Phone like Nokia. Anyone even thinking of buying this handset should be aware and try and see if you could borrow from someone first, use it and then only take the plunge. In my personal opinion this IMATE SPL is a bad buy.

The people who are addicted to the use of other phones may not like the menu structure. But if you are a windows user you are already familiar its features and menu texts.
Also the sync feature is really awsome. Direct connect with the PC and any datatransfers. IR feature is totally useless these days. And thank god its not present. Camera quality is good. Programability! fantastic. I tried to write a few application on my own and they work.
This is not the case with Symbian based cells.

Fantastic smart phone. Slight drawback is that it's not EDGE enabled. Passes well for the any beauty and brains test.

The i-mate spl is a really slim n sexy smartphone. I hate bulky boxy phones & was very impressed by its looks. This is the first smartphone which you would flaunt for its beauty & not just brains. Its slim & light (a pleasure to carry). The 128/64 rom/ram aids in the speed of operation. It is much faster than all Nokia N series phones. I have not had a single software hangup with this phone. The 2mp still camera is good. However the video recording is pathetic, the quality reminded me of the first Nokia camera phone. The absence of a flash is also felt. The contact management is good. All menus can be accessed by short cut keys. Push mail works great. Mail attachments open quickly. The speaker is sad. The earphone position takes some time to get accustomed to. The battery life is also not satisfactory especially if the phone is used for surfing (2hrs). Windows mobile 5.0 works well. It is much superior to symbian which now feels outdated. It advicable to use a mini SD card to store data in order maintain the speed of your phone. The screen is of a good size & images very vivid. But the best feature of this phone is its PRICE. You can't beat its price performance ratio. Just compare its price with other phones having similar features & you will know what i mean.
