Canalys: Indian smartphone market grew handsomely in Q1 2024

Canalys has released итс detailed report on the Indian smartphone market during the first quarter of 2024. It was a tightly contested Q1 with little separating the top 3 smartphone vendors - Samsung, Xiaomi, and vivo.

The market reached 35.3 million sales, a nearly 5 million or 15% increase compared to Q1 of 2023.

Samsung was the biggest vendor with 6.7 million units shipped. Xiaomi came second with 6.4 million, and vivo was third with 6.2 million. Oppo (without OnePlus) scored 3.7 million, while realme had 3.4 million.

Samsung's successful Galaxy S24 launch paid dividends with more demand, a strong AI-focused campaign, and typically strong pre-sale bonuses. Xiaomi's mass-market 5G strategy was successful as well, fueled by the likes of the Redmi 13C 5G and the Redmi Note 13 5G series.

Motorola, Infinix, and Apple all achieved double-digit growth. Apple's iPhone 15 model stood out thanks to multiple price cuts and promos.
