Infinix Note 40 Pro+ review
Design and handling
The Infinix Note 40 Pro+ is reminiscent of last year's Note 30 Pro (there was no Pro Plus) as it features a similar camera island and roughly the same dimensions. Of course, the Note 40 Pro+ is slightly larger as it employs a bigger display.
The Note 40 Pro+ also comes exclusively in a vegan leather cover. The available colors are Obsidian Black and Vintage Green. We have the latter in our office, and it feels pretty nice.
Not only does the faux leather provide a secure grip, but it also repels fingerprints and smudges.
Moreover, it's a relatively thin device (just 8.1mm thick), the camera bulge doesn't protrude too much, and it is pretty lightweight, making it even easier to handle. The Note 40 Pro+ tips the scale at 190 grams, which is impressive for a 6.78-inch device. Packing a built-in charging coil for reverse charging and a set of three cameras makes it even more impressive.
As mentioned earlier, the phone also has IP53 certification against dust and water splashes. You can't submerge it safely, but it will definitely survive a sprinkle or two.
The volume and power buttons are located on the right side of the frame within thumb's reach. Maybe the volume rocker will require a bit of a stretch for some users, but the power button is adequately placed.
On the top of the phone you can also see the IR blaster, which is used for controlling appliances like TVs and air conditioners (or anything else really).
The under-display fingerprint reader, on the other hand, while responsive and fast, is placed way too close to the bottom edge, so it's a bit awkward to reach, especially considering the device's size.
And one quirky little feature is the so-called Halo Lighting. The inside of the LED ring lights up like a small sphere. The effect is pretty cool and acts as a notification LED for calls and messages, for example.
All in all, we like the design. The camera island may be a bit too big, and Infinix could have shaved off a few more grams by making it smaller, but otherwise, the build is pretty solid - the phone feels thin, lightweight and grippy.
