AnonD-12986, 03 Nov 2014The japanese version of the CA-201L is still the king.
It ... moreKyocera HYDRO ELITE is king - we may say it's previous version of Kyocera Brigadier, but HYDRO has root(possibility to Edit APN) from the beginning.
root -> edit /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony.database/telephony.db with SQLite Editor -> APN is not empty -> we have mobile internet.

The japanese version of the CA-201L is still the king.
It doesn't have the "smart sonic receiver" but from what i have heard its really gimmicky.

We're not talking about LTE here, only about
data (2G/3G) internet with local GSM carriers - 2G, 3G data doesn't depend from radio frequencies(like LTE) and should work with ALL GSM providers, so we have Verizon's software lock.
Guys who have Internet access may open complaint against Verizon at
bbb.org - it's serious company with specialization in consumer protection.
How do it description in details here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=56386984&postcount=87
It take about 5 min. do it pls.
I've checked mobile Internet connection (2G or 3G) (I'm in Kazakhstan now)
with my Kyocera Brigadier using different SIM-cards from 3 different GSM-operators: Tele2, Kcell (TeliaSonera) and Beeline.
But the result was every time the same - NO ANY MOBILE INTERNET connection (neither in 2G nor 3G), but Voice and SMS work as intended(with GSM SIM-card).
Familiar from Latvia give next info - there no DATA(2G,3G) with next local GSM carrier : BITE, LMT, TELE2.
From Russia GSM carrier - MEGAFON - there no DATA(2G,3G) .
We don't know any example where DATA(2G,3G) works with non-Verizon SIM-cards.
As the manufacturing company Kyocera sent all complaint to Verizon as the operator,
who set software LOCKS on this phone.
But Verizon forwarded me to the local GSM carrier and to Kyocera manufacturer.
As result, I still don't have mobile internet connection (2G, 3G) at all.
Verizon should allow to manual edit APN (Access Point Name) at smartphone(Without contract version),
its standard feature of Android which was locked by Verizon.
In this case we will have mobile Internet for Smartphone Kyocera Brigadier
with GSM SIM cards(other than Verizon's).

Response from KYOCERA site:
Thank you for contacting Kyocera Communications Inc. This message is in response to your email regarding the APN settings on the Kyocera Brigadier E6782.
I am sorry for the inconvenience, allow me to assist you with this matter. At the time, do allow me to tell you that we never said that the phone was or is unlocked. Allow me to tell you that we don't have official retailers of our phones outside the U.S. However I will provide you with information about the phone and how you can acquire it.
The Kyocera Brigadier comes with a CDMA technology, and does not uses a regular service SIM card. This phone uses a SIM card only to enable the 4G LTE Service if your service provider enables this service.
Also, our phones are not factory unlocked, only the service provider is able to provide such codes as in for this case it would be Verizon. However as in for this case as well if the service provider you are planning to use the phone with is able to provide you such codes. So you will have to contact in this case the service provider to provide you the codes if they are able to do so.
And if you are sure that the phone is able to be activated with any service provider you can buy the phone online through any webpage such as Amazon, eBay etc.

Brigadier can handle 700/1700/2100 => LTE will not work.
Regardless of this even UMTS will not work before APN can be edited.
I a looking forward to any post with a solution.

I'd like to disable quick responses on this phone. Three times today I hung up on someone who called me by just pulling the phone out of my pocket in an attempt to answer it. I actually changed ALL the quick responses (that I can't delete) to ask that they call me back 'cause I didn't really mean to hang up on them.
If I want to hang up the phone after the screen goes dark I can't do it. I pressed everything on the phone and it stayed black until the other person hung up.
I had two voice mail messages today and didn't know it 'till I opened up the screens on my phone.
If I could get rid of all the bloatware on the phone that would be great too.
This is my first smart phone -- I thought it might be more useful, and it is, kinda, but when it comes to using it as an old fashioned phone I'll take a flip phone over this any day.

Hi, did anyone manage to get the APN and data connection working on this phone in Europe?
So far I've read two contradictory posts here by Swanten32 (that it works) and Just Me (that it does not). Which one is it?
It would seem like a brilliant phone, but not without a data connection.

Are you positive that it is not just an issue with the parameters, or is it locked to Verizon? That would be most unfortunate. Not since the MIKE phone has something so rugged been available.

I bought with the full retail price (no contract) because I travel a lot and want to use the phone with different carrier. The phone is global ready (as stated in Verizon website) and can be used with other carrier BUT ONLY FOR CALL!
The data (2G/3G internet) IS NOT WORKING. The stupid verizon locked it!!
I was very disappointed with this! The only way to enable data is by root the phone and add APN manually, but there is no way we can root the phone right now. The only way to use the internet is by wi-fi.
Also we need to root to remove a lot of Verizon's bloatware!
Otherwise this is a VERY GOOD and STRONG phone! The strongest phone ever! Decent spec, nice design (very manly), NFC, Wireless Charging, etc.. Hopefully somebody will have a way to root it. get your facts right and do not get poor sam confused.
