4. Can P780 connect other Wifi enabled devices with Wifi hotspot? : Yes in fact it has Lenovo's Shareit app
5. Any improvement in Battery life after update : slightly
6. Any improvement in Camera quality & shutter speed, FM Radio : Slightly
7. Can I root P780 after kitkat update? Yes
8. Is user interface is laggy or fast? Mixed bag
9. Cab USB charging works after kitkat update? Yes
But my P780 struggling to get 3G signal in good network area.Hope this helps

Go to security app > Privacy Guard > Trusted apps > Make Whatsapp as trusted app.
I hope this will solve your problem.

Before updade clarity was good..

After reading some negative reviews for P780 after kitkat 4.4.2 update, it seems Jellybean 4.3.1 was good. But I am excited to update my P780 to Kitkat
Please fulfill my doubts before going for kitkat update
1. Is it possible to move applications to SD Card after kikat update?
2. Can P780 read/write pen drive after kitkat update? (USB OTG function)
3. Can P780 take screeen shot after update?
4. Can P780 connect other Wifi enabled devices with Wifi hotspot?

My screen has all of a sudden become become dark & when brightness increased, it is showing the previous screen in the back ground... The screen is flickering like a tubelight. Please help if u know what this could be?
I have even tried the solutions listed, but doesnt work.
removed the sims, Sd card, factory reset the fone, powered the fone for off for 8 hrs, still no getting bac to normal screen resolution!
This happened 2 days after upgrading to kitkat & downloading Game Asaplt7 and playing it for 15 min. There after, stopped playing and was chatting on whatsapp for less than 10min and the whatsapp screen froze on the screen in the background . Hence even after factory reset i can see the same whatsapp screen image lightly in the background & the display with a very low resolution....... Even the LENOVO logo at startup is distorted.

Purchased on: 9/7/2014 (4 weeks old)

I have updated to Kit kat. One update of some 700 mb and then another update of 177 mb, and now the phone has became more awsome then before. I can bet this is the best phone in this price range. After the update, it became a piece of envy for others. more features and better UI after update. Most important now wireless display has been activated. All previous features are there plus new features are added. Just one word:Awesome.

facing the same issue after kitkat upgrade, battery drains very quickly. with gprs/wifi it runs for a day only, in earlier version i could able to use it for more than two days. I am in jamshedpur and now want the original version again for my p780.

AnonD-291159, 05 Aug 2014If anyone knows how to solve the problem usb storage would ... moreWhen connecting your P780 to computer and if you're using a PC (Windows) check your phone, the settings for USB will pop up on your phone and then choose the connection what you need. There are MTP, PTP, USB Storage (SD Card) and USB debugging. If you want to access your external memory card choose the USB Storage and if you want to access your Internal memory you have to choose the MTP but you need to install first the Lenovo suite which is installed on your P780. If you're using MAC you need to download the Android File Transfer on MAC (www.android.com/filetransfer)

after my upgrade to kitkat, theres a problem with the call log, earlier multiple entries of the same contact were bunched together, now they are all seperate and cluttered, any idea of the proper settings, i couldnt find any, or is there any call log app that will replace or give an alternate to the call logs list that will solve this problem

After upgrade kitkat 4.4.2 and update to S221.. still facing with:-
1.Youtube HD freezing on fullscreen. After that sound not tele with video. using youtube applications.
2.Gallery not show picture in folder. Thumbnail missing.
3.Lagged simulations during enter folder application.

RV-P780, 03 Aug 2014Just upgraded to Android Kitkat 4.4.2 and phone does not ch... moreDo not charge UA phone with a different charger as the lenovo p780 charger has 2amp output and others have only 1.2amp output. And don't try other USB cables with the charger that is provided. Its just a waste of time. U won't get UA phone properly charged if u use a different cable.
Try this
1) turn off ur phone .
2) remove simcard and memory card
3) press and hold the red button for 10sec
4) after that insert sim n mem card.
5) turn on and calibrate ur battery.
If this doesn't solve ur problem do a factory data reset.

Before the update my device was always restarting, the battery was not charging on usb not working to see internal or external memory, low network signal. After upgrading to KitKat: failed to reboot from scratch, great camera works properly, battery discharge time + fast continues with load connected device with fault, still fails to see usb storage, the last update was 177 MB which seems only to add Asphalt 7 game did not work. So to me it was worth the upgrade, since the problems were solved reboot devices, about the other defects hope that a new upgrade solve.

Can anyone tell me how to downgrade os to 4.2 coz dis kitkate update is hilarious. It laggs a lot I don't wanna keep this update. Earlier os was pretty good n UI also now its looks like some low quality chine phone m very dissappointd with the update. Guyz plz dnt update it to kitkate unless it fixes all the problems. Thanx
