Anonymous, 05 Oct 2009Try before before buying dude... i have tried 4gb in anoth... moreIt's gotta do with the supported file system right? well as i've realized, LG GM200 supports FAT32 file system which comes as default in cards having 4GB and above capacity. So theoretically it should work. Atleast i hope so... gonna try it out anyway..

Nevin Joseph, 03 Oct 2009Earphones not as good in terms of audio quality. If you're ... moreHas anyone tried 4gb or higher cards on this one? Well though the company claims it supports only 2gb max i'm gonna do a gamble and purchase a 4gb card on monday to try out. Well there are some things that i've noticed that makes me think that this is gonna work.
The phone by default formats the memory card using FAT 16 file system.
Memory cards of 4gb and above comes with FAT 32 file system as default as FAT 16 is not supported in higher capacity cards.
I have 2gb transcend which I first formatted within the phone itself. It was formatted using FAT 16. Then I took the card out and formatted it using NTFS file system and inserted it. the card inserted symbol on the home screen showed a red cross indicating the card could not be read.
I took it out again and then formatted using FAT 32 (4096b default allocation unit) file system. The card works fine in this mode. I get little or no errors while copying large number of files. And i do not feel anything slowing down. So theoretically, if it supports a 2gb FAT 32 card, then it should also support a 4GB FAT 32 card.
I will also give you advice on how to handle large files without slowing down the card. Just feel free to ask...

If you're a music addict, better go for phillips or sony earphones. And I was referring to the maximum volume of the phone and not the earphones. I only use half the total volume at any instance.

If you travel a lot, then this could come in very handy as it's got a lot of volume. just the piece of equipment you need to listen to music clearly in busy noisy environments. I'd suggest you get a good pair of earphones for this purpose.

Hey.... has anyone seen my charger? I seem to have misplaced it somewhere. Three days back is when I last saw it. I do have the phone as i always keep it with me to listen to music all the time. Just need it for 1 and half hours to fully charge it. Guess i'll wait another day to find out... Well if nothing goes, i'll have to charge it via PC while transfering files. Do let me know if you come accross it...

Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970LG GM200 is a great contender for the poorman's phone category. It's got everything you need to survive but nothing out of fancy.
Suppose a person has a GM200 and no PC to connect it to, still that person can use the phone's built in editors to modify files within the phone itself. to make ringtones, you have the ringtone creator tool. It's got a great picture editor with options to scale, rotate and a superb crop tool to crop photos in any size you want. So making wallpapers is as easy as that. You can back up your contacts onto the memory card without PC and can send to other phones via bluetooth. Even the text messages can be backed up in .txt format. No need for fancy PC suite or Outlook synchronisation. You can even get latest songs by recording it from the FM radio and cutting out the extras using ringtone creator.

Yash, 02 Oct 2009Dear,i want to know about its camera, music and java quality? Picture quality is average. That I'd have to admit. Though it's a 2mp camera, it is lacking in a bit of sharpness. It is noticeable only at higher zoom levels. So stop here if U are a serious photo fanatic.
To say about java, i haven't tried out much games or apps in this. Opera mini, UC Web etc, runs fine and i even managed to load pages upto 100kb without overloading the memory. For games, I've installed COD World at War (453kb) without any problems of slowdowns or hang up's. Gameloft games work fine in this especially prince of persia and splinter cell. But stop right there if you are a serious java addict.
For music, I am very satisfied with this phone. It may lack dedicated music control keys but those ugly navigation keys serve a purpose. they are ergonomically placed so that the controls can be operated even within a jeans pocket. The music quality of this phone is a debated topic. but i'd say as long as you are not an audiophile, you will find the music very natural and clear and you wouldn't even know the difference. If you travel a lot, then this could come in very handy as it's got a lot of volume. just the piece of equipment you need to listen to music clearly in busy noisy environments. I'd suggest you get a good pair of earphones for this purpose. You can enjoy hours of music (13 hours continuous as I tested it out) on a single charge.
And please if you are that serious about audio quality, then I don't think this is the pick for you. But seriously all I have i in my collection are downloaded mp3's they rang from 128-320 kbps and I have no problem what so ever with the audio quality part. Contrary to what others say, dolby mobile is just a preset and can be turned off to get the natural sound possible.
