@ Anonymous, about the SMS tones..
In the root of your SD card, create a folder called Media, and inside that folder, create another folder called Notifications(you can also add folders called Wallpaper, UI, Ringtones, for their own stuff).
Place your desired tones in the newly made Notifications folder, and in your main settings screen, you can select the Notifications sounds you want, for everything other than texts.
- this screen lets you select notifications for everything bar texts/MMS.
If you want to use a different text tone, than the normal ones, enter your text window(green icon on main home screen, and press menu, then settings, scroll down to ringtone, and it will show all the ones you have added.
This lets you use a ringtone for calls, in the main phone settings, a notification for everything(bar texts), and in the text menu, a seperate ringtone for texts/MMS, etc.

Does anyone know how to put a different SMS tone onto this phone? Ringtones are easy enough, but I can't change the text message tone to one of my own. Does it have to be in a specific format?

It searches for free mp3 files. Transfer the audio files to your memory card, that simple. Several methods, you can bluetooth them from another phone, transfer them from your computer, or dowload them from a site.
PS update to my post on this phone, have found a good app that does have an eq' built in for sound works well! Reelplayer beta seems to automatically upscale video content and works well.

tanya, 08 Jul 2010Hey,i have lg gt540 but dont know how to put music on, does... morei haven't actually got this phone, but i am guessing that you connect your phone to your computer via the usb cable, and transfer what ever you want. to do this you should open my computer and select device...., then open your documents and drag and drop anything to the device....
if you are not sure which device it is have my computer up before you plug your phone in, then it should pop up.

i am thinking about getting this phone, but wondered if the touch screen is that good/responsive, coz i dont want to have to push hard on the screen for it to register my touch. can someone help???

PS Why no review on Samsung Galaxy Apollo i5801 yet? Come on GSM Arena, you have the contacts, why not use them? Probably all in the Paris Coffee shops lol!

Build quality a little suspect, my one had visible scratch on screen, took of factory protective film to confirm. Also the touch buttons, the two of them make odd noises when pressed, sounds like the screen is stuck in place by double sided sticky tape!
Otherwise, excellent phone. Bright screen, with a high resolution for this size screen, at least it's not 240x400, or even 240x320, so good. The media player, two things why no graphic eq, does 1.6 android not support this? secondly, no zoom feature available on video, that always bugs me.
Design is good though, fits well into hand, ideal for larger male hands or the smaller female variety, so not just a compact ladies phone.
The sound through earphone very good, sadly you only get the one combined ear piece/ speaker which is just sufficient, but not exactly brilliant.
Overall conclusion, excellent value for money, good screen, well my sample may just be bad luck, earphone excellent. Browsing very fast, apps supplied out of box fantastic.
Compared to Samsung Galaxy Apollo i5801 on Orange which costs more (refer to UK here), this is the better deal, higher screen res' and looks nicer.
Buy, if you want a reasonable bargain Android, if you have more cash get a refurbished Hero from Three.

just seen advert for this on uk tv and never heard of it,,well never bought an lg since u8360..seems ok but that it but would like to know if equalisers in mp3 are many cause all androids ive had have none..did someone right 130 euros ,,thats fabulous price..only seen this advert 20 mins ago so must find out more..on the advert it said New lg optimus so swift must be for usa i suppose..
