To which recent version of Android could this phone be updated to?
I am planning to buy this phone, I heard that 2.1 maybe coming to this phone is it true?
That will surely improve its performance and would make a good phone for its price.

i love this phone. some 2.x applications couldnt run by the system but its still my fav phone ever. it has smooth design and its made with the best quality materials. lg makes great phones. i dont need 2.x update because 1.5 is the best version ever( 1.5 is the smootest android ever, no lagging, no crash). im only looking for skype which doesnt have 1.5 support yet, other non-working 2.x apps are nothing more than junk, i open them via my galaxy tab, new apps looks just for kids) i strongly recommend using this phone with Android manager, MemoryUp Personal and Advanced task manager.

Hi, I just wrote to LG on Official Froyo update for GW620:
Hi LG, I have been using LG GW 620 for almost a year now. I think it is a great device in its class; an android qwerty phone with 5 MP camera with flash. However its obsolete OS version brings dismay to us loyal "etna" users. Hence some of the users resorted in rooting despite of its complexity; yet had to cope with few malfunctions. Many prefered to switch to different brands as we can witness in online transactions. Last month, Korean users can finally be relieved by the release of official froyo update for LG GW620. This news is rather unexpected and rekindles the pride in using one of the first generation android phones. Rumour mills mix in heavy expectations on the availability of the official updates in Indonesia. I would like to ask whether the official update will be enjoyed by Indonesian etna users in due time. Perhaps a rough estimate on the time will suffice for now. Thank you for your attention. Best, Rozar.
Here's what I got as a reply:
Dear Sir/Madam,
LGhere4U.
Please be informed GW620 in Indonesia can't be upgraded to android version 2.1 since it's hybrid type (combination between keyboard and touchscreen), not pure touchscreen.
Thank you for trusting LG.
We do apologize for any convenience.
Warm regards,
Costumer Relationship Management
