Since there was a disagreement I popped my phone out of the protective shell it lives in that makes it about three times as thick and twice as heavy and popped the back open. The battery immediately fell out so yes, it is swap-able. More ...

tmo version - you most definitely CAN remove the battery. In fact, you have to remove the back cover to even install or remove the SIM card.
