Anonymous, 02 Mar 2009Seeing as the qwerty-keyboard is available only in landscap... moreIf you notice my earlier posts that dedicated to Farroks I asked him to imagine Lg Arena screen as Lg Viewty since both devices have similar screen size. That's why the Lg Arena will be hard to type on.
Never did I do calculation intended to measure the Lg Viewty (although Lg viewty is bad in texting itself given the landscape keyboard that will close entire screen/ hard to edit and review text plus the alphanumeric keys also suck since it as well closes a third of the screen-ps.personal opinion) please notice my previous post the calculation was meant for Lg Arena. Lg Viewty could be better in texting rather than LG Arena,Why? The big thing is Lg Arena doesn't have any jog wheel (as viewed in photos http://www.gsmarena.com/lg_mwc_09-review-319p2.php) Unlike viewty, high probability or certainly that Lg Arena will add arrow keys through virtual keypads or keyboards (given possibilities that it is able to view full-qwerty in normal or landscape mode) In both ways the qwerty or alphanumeric keypads will share extra spaces for the navigational arrows making it narrower.
Let's recalculate, I'm sure everybody knows Trigonometry very well. A 3'(7.62cm) screen size with 4.5cm width should have 6.14cm height. Qwerty keyboard viewed horizontally will only have 4.5 mm (far from aforementioned standard it has not included the arrow keys if they're placed beside the qwerty) and if viewed vertically the space for keyboard will be narrowed by arrow keys by approx.1.5 to 2 cm.So 6.14-1.5 = 4.64 mm (again, far from aforementioned standard). Okay given the arrow keys to be put on above the keyboards like Symbian OS S60 (see http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_5800_xpressmusic-review-308p5.php)
Thus 6.14cm/10= 6.14mm Gosh! Wow it's so much textable but alas you will only have very small area to view what you write alot of awful things might happen.
The useful thing here might as well be alphanumeric keypads, so enjoy using the alphanumeric keypads and you'll probably see only one line or two as you type since additional arrows are added. Painful. Worse than Viewty perhaps.
I do like the features though, but again the screen size lets me down.

It will be mine!
It will replace my toyish nokia 5800
But I want to know some more things:
-Price?
-Screen under direct sunlight
-Ringtone volume
-Will it have many games to take profit of the huge resolution and gfx chip?
-Does it have a Weather app?
-Wap connection compatible?
-Themes?

Kyle, 02 Mar 2009Well I think I have a very normal sized finger tip mate. Bu... moreSeeing as the qwerty-keyboard is available only in landscape-mode you should do your calculations using the height of the device. The screen-height is approx. 68 mm yielding 6,8 mm per button. This is stil too small according to your standards however the qwerty-keyboard on the Iphone is only ~53 mm wide. If you choose to use the alphanumeric-keyboard you will have four "buttons" distributed over ~44 mm which gives 11 mm per "button". Also know as a whole lot more than 7,6mm.
That takes care of your blatant disregard for facts.
The second thing is your references to reviews. I actually toke the time to check them the quotes you picked out are surely supporting your point of view. The only problem is that are actually more people who have the exactly opposite opinion thinking that texting is a breeze in that perticular review.

Farrokh, 01 Mar 2009Well if y have monster-like fingers then yes u need some bi... moreWell I think I have a very normal sized finger tip mate. But I doubt yours since your last comment. I had awful experience in texting with viewty maybe you wouldn't trust. But take a look at these comments I googled:
Texting, basically if you have man hands then just forget about it, the button pads are so close together that time & again you are pressing two at once & if you make a mistake it can be so infuriating at times if trying to correct it.

I text loads & this phone is not at all a texting phone, it's really hard & takes AGES! I find myself saving every message I send to templates section so that I don't have to go through the painful process of texting. Definitely NOT a texters phone :(.

And something Microsoft researched for their future OS:
Currently, they are working with the assumption of a 7.6×7.6 millimeter fingertip size. The goal is a device that can be used almost entirely one-handed with the thumb of the hand holding the device.

The lg arena only has 5.5 width(both side borders included) if we cut away another 1 cm for its side frame. Phew, the screen only has 4.4cm width. To view a standard full qwerty in most touch enabled phones which is 10 coloumns: q w e r t y u i o p let us devide 44mm by 10 we got 4.4mm (far from the microsoft researched 7.6 for average). So it's too hard to type precisely onto one button with normal finger tips, maybe my friend Farrokh has slightly small fingers like alittle girl huh? Yea maybe little girls or boys deserve this phone, not me.
Or maybe you have normal finger tips but found at last you should type with you nails, sorry mate it uses capacitive screen so no chance. Huh ya last chance alphanumeric keypads ya... as already told this phone belongs to kids and teens, again not me.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, this phone is perfect,it uses the new processor by AMD,the Imageon a250,information says that it uses Vector Graphics,so when you zoom a image on the phone it don't get pixeled!I don't have any information about the speed, but if someone has,say to us!

Oh,I have something to add,I saw some sites that says that the processor is also from AMD,so isn't the one from ST Eletronics that I have said,so the speed can be from 800 mhz to 1 ghz, because of the big amount of RAM memory, the other 8 GB are INAND Flash type!

Mubin, 01 Mar 2009How about OS the phone?I dont really think it has any OS.this has its cons n pros. No OS guarantees faster performance without delays(which i prefer), but we have to forget about 3rd party applications(important to some ppl)

Farrokh, 28 Feb 2009What do you MEAN the screen is Small?!
3 inch WVGA res (... moreI realyy don't care who make x1 or idou or etc, i'm talking about phone screen and texting not color or bulkiness. (Or you can elaborate relationship of resolution and color towards texting?) That's all. Small screen - hard to type, try lg viewty 3" type using qwerty- imagine how hard you'll type with your finger tip. HUh the spec says lg arena to use capacitive screen that's even worse means u should use use your big finger tips to type cannot use nails on the narrow screen while there's still a chance on viewty huh? bad bad...
Anyway Agree with you about browsing experience, only early judgments. We still need to see for further information and preview on this phone.
