LG KP500 Cookie

Okay..I got my VB Cookie yesterday from Amazon. This phone looks sharp, sleek but understatedly elegant!
Coming from a long ago iPAQ (2) and most recently a CECT user, this phone by far is d' best, bar none...
I have yet to get acquainted of all the functions and trickeries of this fab fone though...
Btw, I checked the firmware ver and this is what I got:
KP500AT-00-V10k-ARB-XX-APR-24-2009
Anyone know if this is the most recent?
Based from the box and the firmware (v10k), this unit is destined for the UAE market.
Also in a mylgcookie thread, someone mentioned that this is the latest...based from the date 4/24/09.
Can someone confirm this?
Otherwise, either a v10d or as others had stated...a yet "newest" v10y firmware version update is planned.

So i end up buying a star.. well its ok.. nothing to be excited about.. my first touch screen phone.. But i'm still curious on what lg has.. i also want to explore the features of the cookie and what it has to offer.. My gf will be buying her own cookie next week.. I can't wait to try her cookie (damn).. I just want to compare the two phones.. I want to know if my decision on buying the samsung star is great or bad..
But overall i think both phones are good.. Lg and Samsung are really competing for each other.. But who cares, where just cellphone users who support there products..

qw, 06 Sep 2009hey kokey.. wat do u mean by overcharging it for 8hours? sh... morewell its not really official sop, its more of a tradition really.hehe passed down from experience by almost all phone owners. almost everyone i know does this to new phone batteries. i for one have done it to all my brand new phone batteries since my 2001. and i've proven it's effectiveness to all my phones up to the cookie.
anyway, brandnew cookie battery can power up your phone for a while. just drain it by playing with it. once it shuts down, find a time so you can charge it for 8hours straight despite being full at about 2&1/2hours. and remember it should be off. after 8hours remove it and use your phone as normal.
after that you can charge your phone normally next time it drains. but make sure you drain it before charging it normally atleast for the first few cycles.
most new batteries supposedly don't need this initial charging but based on the number of complaints i've read, its best to just do it. its only 1 time anyway..

hey kokey.. wat do u mean by overcharging it for 8hours? should i do this right after i removed it from the box? Is it the sop for all brand new battery? i'm sori because i'm not familiar with this things.. can i browse it for a little bit after removing from the box, then charge it afterwards?

qw, 06 Sep 2009is it ok to buy a lower version than v10d then i'll be the ... morei guess if you know what you're doing it's ok. there's a step by step instruction anyway. but if something happens to your phone i dunno if your warranty covers it. its best if you buy a cookie with updated software already installed. there are a lot of stores selling this phone anyway, most of then have updated it already.

comment pls!, 06 Sep 2009I think i'm going to get the cookie later.. 8.3k in greenhi... moreand remember to initial charge you brand new battery. i guess you already know that. but to others who don't, that means overcharge it to around 8hours 1st time charging only. don't believe the manual that there's no need for it. maybe its the reason some owners complain of their battery life..

latest unofficial version is v10z.

but i suggest you check your software version first. go to >top menu >settings >phone settings >handset info. if it says v10d stick with it. no need to update.

I think i'm going to get the cookie later.. 8.3k in greenhills with free 4gb of memory.. but i'll see if theres an available star now.. Because its out of stock now.. If theres none, i'll go for the cookie..

Had this phone 4 know more then 2 weeks for its money it is good phone its got lots of trick up its sleep like u plug usb in 2 your computer then turns in 2 a plug in usb modem so u get internet on the computer how clever is that but like i said had for no longer then 2 weeks it started 2 freeze and turn it self off if i wanted 2 go on facebook or any web site so i took it bk gutted

fyi:
>2 cookie batteries lasts longer than 1 star battery. and the price difference between star and cookie can cover for the extra battery cost so there you go.

comment pls!, 06 Sep 2009how sad.. i really love to get this phone.. (despite the fa... morefully charged, normal use usually lasts 2days. 15minutes calls, 100 txt messages, 1 hour music, 1 hour games, take some pictures and videos, per day.
1st battery bar lasts until the next day. once 1 bar goes down though, i limit my usage bacause it usually goes down faster. and once it gets to 1 bar left, i usually just have minutes remaining before it goes lowbat and dies. usually happens on the 2nd day.
but now i always charge my phone every morning so i can use it all day without worries. i never wait for the battery to go down anymore..

how sad.. i really love to get this phone.. (despite the fact that the star is out of stock in my place) i really use my phone on calls.. 3h of talktime i think is not that enough.. But i do love this phone.. =c if only they've come up wid a better battery..
But i'm still considering to buy this..

comment pls!, 05 Sep 2009hey do u think the battery of this lg will last to me for a... moreif battery life is most important to you, better go with the star. but even the star will not last the whole day if used non stop. but it'll last longer than the cookie. the xpress music 5800 lasts much longer though. more complete phone but i dunno if you can still consider it a budget phone. depends on your budget i guess..

hey do u think the battery of this lg will last to me for a whole day?
i'm like gonna use this for about more than 2 hours of talking on the phone, maybe send more or less 20 msgs..
do u think it will still have enough battery to listen to couple of songs, browse its features or maybe watch a video?
because this is what i usually do on my phone.. and my current phone couldn't keep up with my heavy usage.. i always charge it.. And i hate charging especially when i'm on a middle of doing something..
And its very inconvinient to bring your charger with you..
I need your answers asap! because i want to buy a budget touch screen phone and i'm stuck on what to get.. The star or this.. well theres no problem on the battery life of star but its out of stock now, (well in my place) i think it would be next week until they get a stock, i just can't wait that long..
and im thinking of getting this because i need a cellphone NOW.. i'm fed up with my current phone.. damn i hate my phone, i always charge it
