Yes you can use an mp3 as a msg tone, but it only plays a few secounds, which is a pain.

Truely a great phone....in India we aren't probably used to Prada's, Viewty's, Armani's and Voyager's, but this phone does bring your attention to it. To a place where people don't think beyond Nokia and Sony Ericsson, LG needs to be competitive to make its own mark. They have got a great handset in form of KU990 - now they should compete price wise as well. A price around 18k ($450) or below would definitely unsettle the Marketing guys of Nokia and others as they dont have any device which can actually compete with this device in style. Its been long since Nokia has been rallying upon their N-series phones - but they hardly offer any variations. TO me, almost all the N series phones look same in feature. Finding a touchscreen in Nokia is difficult and same story goes with Sony Ericsson and Samsung. They are going with similar type of cell phones in market without offering any variety. I was impressed with HTC product and the variety of them. From a bar phone to Touchscreen, TouchFlo, slider keyboard..they got everything in market. I am planning to get a phone and in my list HTC and Viewty superseed Nokias and Sumsungs and Sony Ericssons...I wish Viewty (KU990) had been available for around 17-18k ($400-$450)

Ive never had an LG, ive alwasy been stuck to NOkia, Samsung or Sony Ericsons however i notice they all have problems, Nokias crash and the phone features are all the same, Samsungs are rather basic and Sony Ericsons try to cram that much on they also crash. The LG viewty however is far from them, its sleek, stylish, very reliable, good battery life, great 5mp camera and video calling is clear as well, the features are great and dont include loads of silly software like design your own ring tone that sound poop. lol It comes with Google earth on witch i find useful on a phone as its basically a map, it would be good if sat nav was on however you can download it. it has 3 different imput methods to text, normal key, a full on screen touch qwerty keyboard, you can even write it on the screen. And one amazingly easy thing i found is the PC software it comes with, so easy to use, not like Sony Ericsons, if i want to use it was a modem i didnt have to configure it with the network, download anything, i simply clicked a button and within 5seconds i had connected. the built in internet on the phone is fast and like the I-phone you can rotate the view. Mobile TV streaming is very quick with no delay on immage to sound. Brillant phone and the best ive had so far.

I agree with you, the only things I would of wished for were a lense cover protector, a stylus holder and not major but wifi
Oh and weres all the screensavers and themes !!!

Frankly, this phone is FEATURE-packed (missing only GPS and WiFi) .. on top of that, it is NOT a Windows Mobile one (meaning the batteries last for more than 2-3 days, at least at the time of purchase, while using it nearly every day .. and that the phone's responsive enough !!), it has Java apps & games (means I can develop custom thingies on top of it, just like my now retired Palm).

And add into that the price I paid for it (€59, that is about $90, attached to a 2-hour subscription with unlimited DAILY landlines calls...), and its a dream come true, as I'm about to kickstart my business !!!
However, this dream could have been better, as its design is somewhat lacking, with :
                            - no customisation of the front line icons (Calendar is 3 clicks away, & adding an appointment is 5-clicks more longer ..)
                            - a camera lens with ABSOLUTELY no protection
                            - no additional batteries or video cable on sale at the time, anywhere apart from chinese websites
                            - some kind of delay (LG didnt expect to sell THAT much phones ... but I got lucky : last week, mine came)
                            - LG customer support emails & Web site offer NO TECH INFOs ... one has to have some live demo at a PHYSICAL store :

Im very happy with the camera and Im used to using a 6megapixel digital camera, but maybe thats just my opinion, I think the KS20 is great coz of windows and wifi but other than that its not much different to the viewty. One thing for sure is that I took a risk buying the viewty as im used to buying sony walkman phones and I was waiting for the W960I to be released but got bored, but Im happy with my decison.I have films on my viewty and the quality is great (:

cbchick-yea, i feel u. I got it for the same feature, but i am lil disappointed with the 5mp cam though. its about as good as the 3mp or cam on iphone. in my opinion. thats why i was willin to give up the cam =). $700 is a lot for another one, considerin u and i paid a load for viewty! maybe next christmas =), or just flash my phone til i get an offer.

Yes u can use a standard headphone with it. U swap headsets using d supplied head set attachment, this way u only need 1 port- how stylish is that. Listen music, d radio and make calls using ur own headset, pretty cool.
