Actually, it's LG's SECOND quad-band phone. The LG CU500 is quad-band, too.

Wow! I think this phone is going to appeal to users who want a strong multimedia phone, with an excellent camera (and video recording to boot) and great music (with the all-time favourite radio!)
However, it does seem pretty much just that, a let down considering that you would hope that a touchscreen phone can serve up some business functions, such as document editing software, but I suppose for the normal user like me, what they have is a complete package, with the swooning camera and HSDPA.
But hold on there, the HSDPA only has speeds of 1.8Mbps??? Did I head wrong? It does seem a bit slow... Well, not a bit. Very! A few, not much, but a few phones can already go up to speeds of 7.2Mbps and Singapore's Starhub allows for surfing speeds of that speed. It seems like 1.8Mbps is way too slow for a jam-packed multimedia phone like this! Hopefully we might get to see some changes to that.
Otherwise, I would love to know if it does run on any operating system. Rumours did say it would run on Windows Mobile 6? Seems unlikely here. But it might come with the problems of Windows too.
And one last thing! Just wonder what the media browser will be like, and whether it will be able to access sites such as YouTube ssince it is marketed as a multimedia phone.
I doubt LG will make it simply a phone with great camera functions and just that since they had previously released the KG920 for that and it didn't work well.
And! The Prada phone was quite expensive because of the Prada label... I am expecting that the price of this phone should drop? Considering that the features are way below par, compared to Nokia N95, I would expect its price to be somewhere near Sony Ericsson K850, which should be relatively cheap! Please!

This phone is so ugly, but 5mp camera, nice. but i mean talking on it, it would look like im holding a big brick next to my ear.

i think most of people notice that this phone's front looks nearlly same as Prada phone. Design is ok.. but full large touch screen can give bad battery life. that is not good. Also i guess GSM arena put wrong information as KU990 has 120fps for motion capture for video recording. it is higher than HD one which has 60fps. this is so far going to be best camera phone. with 5MP camera, Image Stabilizer with Schneider-Kreuznach optics which u can not compare with stupid Nokia Calz optcs. ... Best camera Phone ever.!

I believe that this phone is going to be off the chain. Most people are going to like the 5mp camera and 3g configuration.

This fone, is ugly! They should've put wifi and some flash memory on it. What a waste of an update.

Great spec. and the design is similar to the Prada phone, but how come the look is not half as good as the Prada?
I guess the send/end buttons & the PRADA logo do make a big difference ... !!!

Here are a few of the differences I see from the Prada.
KU990 Quad-band; KE850 Tri-band - The KU990 will be better for the North American market as they still use the 850 band. Not sure if Asia or Europe still uses this band.
The KU990 is larger and heavier than the KE850. However, they have the same screen size and resolution. Not a big difference, but if the size of a phone is more important than some features it is somthing to decide on.
KU990 EDGE, no; KE850 EDGE, yes.
KU990 3G, yes; KE850 3G, no.
So, based on your carrier and data transfer needs this will be something a buyer needs to think about.
Most other fetures look pretty similar.
Couple of cons againt this phone.
Still using the 800 mAh battery. Both phones have poor battery performance because of this. Hopefully LG will correct this.
No WLAN/WiFi. Not everyone needs this so some may not care. But for those that do it will basically make this a no go for them.
Overall I like the direction LG is moving in.

It has a design which seems a bit "been there done that" for LG also the lack of WIFI really hurts this particular piece and also the lack of on board storage and OS system hurts. Its still better than the I-phoney
