ive had my viewty for 4 mounths and its been ok upon till last nite took a few photo's an the phone stop workoing i can only anwser calls cant read mgs or dia out or anything else can anybody give me some advice please.

my phone is just over a year old and now i cant even use any of the basic functions its stopped working. A basic phone for me now im not well pleased.

I Have this phone over a year but for some reason when calls are coming in to me they are coming in caller unkown. I did have ringtones set up for some of my contacts but that is gone. How can I sort this out is there a setting that I have to adjust tried everything, call settings , display. Please Help.

i had this phone for 2 years before replacing. the only reason for me to replace it is simply because i have lost it while not noticing. it was the phone i had by my side for the longest period of time.
we shouldn't compare it with the recent phones. looking back to year 2007, it was indeed a pretty good feature-packed phone with specifications that did "wow" us. i will state the pros and cons according to my own 2 years experience with this phone and you can trust me on that.
NOTE:
-I AM REVIEWING THIS PHONE ACCORDING TO YEAR 2007, (time of release) NOT TO BE COMPARED WITH THE RECENT MODELS.
-EVERYTHING I WROTE HERE MEANT TO BE MY OWN EXPERIENCE. ANY DIFFERENT EXPERIENCES YOU HAD, PLEASE DO SHARE WITH US.
PROS:
features - feature-packed phone of that time. one of the very few smartest "dumbphone" in the market in year 2007. touchscreen technology with a 3-inch screen slapped onto it was pretty amazing. also one of the first few 5MP camera phone out there.
design and form factor - personally, i really like the look of this phone. simplicity, kind of classy, looks like a camera from behind, aluminum back cover, etc. the form factor is brilliant too. everything is just nice. feels good in hand. 3" touchscreen was impressive of that time. even today, i still think anything more makes too big of a device.
highly customizable - i had a lot of fun hacking it to have lots of themes and functions back in the days.
camera - the camera is good provided you had the correct settings. it has a wide variety of settings and features. it works very well for me and i do like the strobe flash equipped. better than LED flash.
video camera - it has the best video camera i've ever came across. crisp image and sound. i oftenly record voice clips using it because it was so clear. it also compresses the videos you recorded in DivX format.
jog-wheel - creative way of navigating. sometimes works better than flicking the touchscreen. fun way of doing manual focus.
connectivity - 3.6 Mbps of HSDPA is probably the fastest at that time. i used to use it as my portable modem on-the-go. i don't mind it without wifi as it was basically more needed and more of a common feature for a smartphone that time.
cost - this is the best part. even back in the year 2007, it was not expensive at all compared to the other phones of the same price range given its specifications and features.
CONS:
insensitive touchscreen - touchscreen is simply not sensitive enough. had to use quite a bit of a force.
laggy interface - the UI is somewhat laggy in my own experiences. not smooth enough overall.
laggy gallery - phone lags when overloaded. when viewing the gallery for instance, you will find it taking quite long to load your photos depending on how many photos you have. it is slower than many devices when it comes to viewing the gallery.
poor battery life - had used LG Viewty and LG GT505. both gave me problems regarding battery life. after the very first bar went down, the rest won't last for long. for example, after 3 hours of usage, the battery level went down by one bar. however, the rest won't last for another 3 hours before the phone decided to shut itself down.
no slot for stylus - it is just plain annoying especially when you need the stylus to operate the phone sometime. for example, handwriting recognition.
chrome side - the chrome side of this phone looks nice. however, if you ever scratch, drop or knock it onto something, it will come off, quite easily. leaving the phone imperfect very soon.
poorly built hardware buttons - the 3 hardware buttons at the front, especially the "C" button, gets faulty very soon. require more and more force to get the press registered.
java applications - when running java applications, you can neither call upon the keypad/keyboard nor view it full screen without having the next to useless soft keys to appear on the screen.
FINAL SAY:
it is overall a very good phone for me these 2 years. as i said, if not for i lost it, i will definitely use it until it totally unable to operate. basic functions such as calling, texting and browsing are perfectly fine. the browser views mobile pages and all i can say is, it is average. nothing too good nor bad at all. it just works. if you were to take it is already a two and a half year mobile phone into consideration, it is certainly a good phone at its time. if not why do you think it was such a popular model back then until now? =)
lastly, this is not a buying guide. it is already 2010. there are many free phones out there (with a contract) which are better than the viewty.

Got this phone from my partner, 1st time ive ever kept this phone longer than a year. Love it to bits, even tho me and my ex are now not together, sold it to move on, as she did :-) would recommend LG to everyone

i have had this phone for less than 12 months and have recently bought a new battery. i only use this phone to ring or text people (a couple of times a day) and it just does not hold charge. i carry a spare battery with me but still can't get through a morning without running out of charge. i actually like this phone but for this very inconvenient problem.

I have been using this phone for 2years+ and i've been contented with all of its features. It doesn't hang even once and although you can say that this is already an old model, its still productive and durable as ever.

I had the viewty and the touch screen just stopped working after 3 weeks of use. Also the phone hung when my calendar became full. Was fun to use while I had it but personally will never opt for and LG phone in the future again.

I had this phone and use to love it until for some reason it just became really slow and eventually the touch screen stopped working. When the touch screen stopped working that was it for me because it wasn't even worth using because I couldn't even do anything on it any more.
I had it "repaired" by LG but they didn't fix it. I kept pestering them and they kept telling me there was nothing wrong with it. For some reason it worked fine for the repairers and didn't work at all for me.
Anyway this was my 2nd LG phone and it will be my last. I am never ever getting an LG phone ever again. They always stop working for me.
