Thanks for your reply to my questions.
I have just gone to airplane mode and then turned airplane mode off again. Hope this fixes the problem but best fix would be to leave Vodafone but that wont be till 2016 for me as I sold my original phone due to call quality issues and a the Lumia 1020 Camera packing up in two weeks. So I bought this phone used.

yes, i am also facing Voice Distortion problem. My friends can't hear me properly sometimes. they are saying like my voice is on so distance and can't hear properly. but i'm having mobile normally just near to my mouth.

Best way to bring u back on tracks is turn on airplane mode n again turn off. To know if you are off the grid just keep an eye on social networks notifications... No new fb or whatsapp msgs..u nd arpln mode.

Is anyone having the following issues when making and or receiving calls.
1) Voice Distortion (Breaking up of calls bit like a robot).
2) Sometimes when I get phone calls from a friend he says that he gets a voice saying the person your callings phone is switched off and I know for a fact my Nexus 5 is not switched off.
I am on Vodafone Contract in the UK and my friend is on Virgin Mobile Rolling Contract in the UK.
We have both had our contract sims replaced by our Networks to take them out of the equation. My friend has Motorola Moto X on Android 4.4.2 and my Nexus 5 is on Android 4.4.3. I cannot get out of my contract until 2016 and I sold my original Contract Phone a Lumia 1020 as the first one the camera packed up within a couple of weeks so I then bought my Nexus 5 used but in very good condition.
Maybe other Nexus 5 Users could advise me if they get either or both of the issues and what phone networks they are using.
Is there a way of boosting the Network Signal on the phone? 4G is not Brilliant on the phone so as I use wifi with the phone for internet I am using the phone on 2G.

The Nexus 5 was the fastest smartphone I've ever owned and faster than iPhone 5s.

Just to let you know there are some differences between black and white nexus 5. So check it on youtube before buying.
