I owned this phone for about one month. In short - it's fast, reliable, with very good camera, but has two major drawbacks.
First - it's big. It doesn't feel good in average sized hands and it's very difficult to operate using only one hand. It's size makes it quite uncomfortable in tight jeans.
Second - it's too expensive (chinese phones with 1.7 Ghz Quad core, 32 GB of memory [2 GB of ram], FHD display and very good graphics are more than twice cheaper!).

This is the best phone available in the markets. after this, Galaxy J and Note 3. Why Nexus 5 is the best?! Because it's a Nexus phone!!! Simply, Because it's from Google! I think this is enough for why should you choose Nexus 5 :D If not: It has stock android with a very cool launcher. Thanks to stock Android, this phone doesn't have any lag. So, you can make the best use of your phone. Your Nexus 5 will never be old, because Google will update your device for ever!!! :D It will get updates faster than any smartphones (etc.). Think about why Google released android 4.4.1 and 4.4.2? Just because of Nexus 5's problems (Camera & ...)!!! Don't forget that Google will support Nexus 5 all the way!!!

Modern Combat4, Vice City and San Andreas have no any lag on max settings. After 10min of play phone is a bit hot, but not nearly as my optimus 4x which bakes my thumb after 5min of playing some harder game. So essentially nexus 5 is good for gaming
