Had the phone since shortly after launch (November 2015). There still has yet to be a better low light camera in a smartphone as of January 2018. What is going on?

The only thing that is keeping me change for a long time is the updates that come directly from Google even thou this phone is a midrange and quite old now.

i upgraded from a nexus 5 to a 5x and i must say, its a worthy successor and a carrier of a legacy. used it for maybe 6 months and i was satisfied just as i was with the 5. but however due to the fear of bootloop striking me, i sold it. it would be my recommendation if it wasnt for that only issue, still however, its 2018, either you save one up in a box for a display, or you look for something newer.

Got a Nexus 5X last November. It worked great until yesterday it was dying so I plugged it in to charge. Then once I plugged it in, it shut down and did not restart. I now have learnt that my phone has just died from the sudden Nexus 5X Boot Loop death!! And my warranty literally just expired a month ago! Why would a company like to waste people's money but make sure their butt is covered for just a year then have it die? If anyone is wanting to have a long lasting phone, do NOT buy a Nexus 5x and hope that it will live. Other people I have heard from have the same issue, as soon as the warranty is up, it dies, so the company doesn't have to replace the phones 'under warranty' and lose money.
So beware Nexus 5x users, your phone may suddenly die for no particular reason...make sure you back up all your files/photos constantly and watch for your warranty expiry...as soon as it ends your phone dies!! :(

AnonD-723898, 18 Dec 2017Hey guys, my LG Nexus 5X motherboard burnt because of bootl... moreUpdate:
Just contacted LG in Lithuania, I asked what was changed after new motherboard replacement, if I could be calm, that the problem won't happen again, since all line of LG Nexus 5X was released with defect, explained him that thermal insulating stick is really bad solution, because it doesn't help from overheating and some people show on youtube how they peel off that thermal stick and change it to copper metal or that after device motherboard is burnt, people turn off A57 cores and use it further.
Since I had doubts if the phone will work long time, not just one year (I read lots of feedbacks on gsmarena, watched videos on youtube and found out that average working time till bootloop problem happens - is little bit more than one year), so the guy from customer support just told me, that the company cannot guarantee longer than 24 months and that we should hope, that the phone will last longer, because of new updates, not sure if he just mentioned anything about new and technically fixed of bugs hardware... I also asked refund of money, since all line of this smartphone model has defect, but the guy from Customer Support said that I should forget this idea, haha, because the phone was fixed and working right now.
So I'm not sure what should I do about this phone - now it's working okay and I still have left 6 months of warranty:
1) Should I sell it now? Or before the warranty will end?
2) Should I open the phone and to change thermal stick to copper heatsink now (I will lose guarantee)? Or should I wait till the expiration date of warranty and then change it (but in those 6 months motherboard will be gradually becoming damaged)?
I would appreciate your opinions on what should I do with this phone, guys.

don't waste your money. the phones die and won't recharge or boot up. lg will not back it up. and offer only to look at the phone and it takes up to 2 weeks in which time they don't provide a replacement phone and won't guarantee that they will fix it. also they won't pay for shipping.

Hey guys, my LG Nexus 5X motherboard burnt because of bootloop problem few months ago, but I still had warranty, so I got repaired it for free. But I have another question - even the motherboard was changed, do you think bootloop problem is solved by updates? Or do you think it's worth to sell this phone, before the warranty expires?
Or should I install something from xda forum to improve this phone's life duration?

I am a serious fan of Nexus. I started using with Nexus 2 when it started with LG. step by step i have used all the hand sets which nexus brought to the market. Now presently am using a Nexus 5 and a Nexus 5x. Two days back my Nexus 5X shut down due to boot loop. and here local engineers already declared the cell phone as a dead one. I am very sad due to this reason.
