Thinking about buying this phone? Really, DON'T. LG keeps pushing the update forward and will not even give us REAL gingerbread, with updated kernel... They are probably working on Optimus 3D and have already forgotten their 2 week flagship phone... It's a great piece of hardware but, without proper software support, you can't tell any difference from a single core, 1ghz phone. Oh, sorry, you can... Your battery won't last much... Really, if you want some support, buy a Nexus branded Android or, if is your cup of tea, iphone.

You need read the article carefully, they said that "LG has stated on its Indian Facebook page that Optimus 2X will be not be getting any Android 4.0..." which is the new ‘Ice Cream Sandwich’ Android 4.0, they did not cancel Android 2.3 which is GB update, i do agree that they are the slowest company on earth regarding SW updates and they are losing money in the phone space, currently my LG Optimus 2x working good with the Stock Rom Froyo 2.2.2 v10d version and "SoftLocker" application installed (to prevent phone freeze – I have zero freezes since I installed this). Regarding new device in the future I probably will take one of the Samsung devices with the big screen, I consider to take the Samsung galaxy note which has 5.3” screen :-)

This superphone is really having solid performanance.But GB update is required to use the real power of dual core processor.So when will GB update comes in INDIA lg?I m waiting eagrrly.

PPS, 24 Oct 2011Hi All, Can anyone suggest how to activate the front camer... morego to modaco forums http://android.modaco.com/topic/343750-18-oct-gr4-v20j-modaco-custom-rom-for-the-lg-optimus-2x-with-online-kitchen/ , find the post that explains how to flash Paul's GB ROM based on leaked 20j ROM from LG , and you are going to be able to make skype video calls with front camera . For me , the "modaco vanilla" pack worked best because camera woked both in landscape and in portrait mode ;)

i cud hav chosen any phone except galaxy s2.
the only reason i bought 2x was only bcoz of its price.....
no gingerbread yet so i m pissed off now cant use the full potential if dual core.

So I follow every day the opinions of the people out here, because i am waiting too, for the Gingerbread update from LG, or at least I was.I am thinking to buy this phone for so long, but now I don't want to buy it because I'm tired to waiting for so long, and see that Lg don't give a damn. So the only thing that I'm happy, that I never buoght this phone.And even if they will send the Gingerbread update I don't care about it because it's too late.I don't want to have an android phone that update's so late to Gingerbread and then to see in couple of month that the other andriod phones are updateting to Icecream

I have LG Optimus 2x and the experience was bad from phone SW stability point of view (freezes etc.) , LG SW patches slow pace releases and probably will be the last to upgrade this phone to GB.
I do not have any experience with other LG phone devices but base on the one I own now, I doubt if I’ll ever buy another one from LG. by the end of the day when you are exploring Android web sites you can see that LG Optimus 2x became a star due to people complaints and dissatisfactions. Cost of a device is not the main factor to buy a phone, If LG will not improve its products quality, timely support & accountability they will continue to lose in this space.

I regret buying lg optimus 2x shud hav gone for galaxy s2 or any htc phone.
Atleast dey r having 2.3 update.
I lost hope dat dis phone will get ICS or Gingerbread.
lesson learnt "never buy LG mobiles"

There is NO available upgrade from the 2.2 (Froyo) OS to the 2.3 (Gingerbread) OS in New Zealand and I suspect most of the rest of the world, LG New Zealand told me that it was likely that there would NOT be, nor ever be one available for the LG Optimus P990 2X, yet this phone is constantly sold online and in the shops as clearly showing that it is upgradable to the 2.3 Gingerbread OS, be warned! THERE IS NO UPGRADE...
