I got tired of waiting for Gingerbread from LG just last week. I live in Switzerland. I rooted the damned thing and then installed Cyanogen Mod7.1-RC1 of it. It works fine and I do not need the LG supported apps.

All executives working in LG India should be subjected to three days of Anal rape or sodomy. On the 4th day you will see that LG India will start pushing the notification of Gingerbread update to your device, on the 5th day after the anal rape you will see a press release stating that LG Optimus 2x will get the Ice cream sandwich update in the month of Feb 2012. If you don't believe me, try it at your nearest customer service center.

I don't you can blame LG for this yet.
It's Nvidia's Fault not LG's
They have not released the code to developers to allow NEON SIMD support yet or high profile H264.And unlock 1080p playback of flash.
Nivida has kept this locked for some reason in the Tegra 2. About time you let developers use these now!
I'm sick of this , but Nvidia should just release this so LG can build us ICS.
Thankyou LG

Shuki, 26 Oct 2011Hi, LG phone business is losing money according to LG, see... moreU'r lucky! I have bought it, and the sw is pretty bad for a supposed flagship phone. Weren't for CM7, my optimus 2x would make me a nice dualcore paperweight...

Thinking about buying this phone? Really, DON'T. LG keeps pushing the update forward and will not even give us REAL gingerbread, with updated kernel... They are probably working on Optimus 3D and have already forgotten their 2 week flagship phone... It's a great piece of hardware but, without proper software support, you can't tell any difference from a single core, 1ghz phone. Oh, sorry, you can... Your battery won't last much... Really, if you want some support, buy a Nexus branded Android or, if is your cup of tea, iphone.

Hi,
You need read the article carefully, they said that "LG has stated on its Indian Facebook page that Optimus 2X will be not be getting any Android 4.0..." which is the new ‘Ice Cream Sandwich’ Android 4.0, they did not cancel Android 2.3 which is GB update, i do agree that they are the slowest company on earth regarding SW updates and they are losing money in the phone space, currently my LG Optimus 2x working good with the Stock Rom Froyo 2.2.2 v10d version and "SoftLocker" application installed (to prevent phone freeze – I have zero freezes since I installed this). Regarding new device in the future I probably will take one of the Samsung devices with the big screen, I consider to take the Samsung galaxy note which has 5.3” screen :-)
