i live in india, so everytime i try to update, it says
"you are using latest software version in current os version."
hence i am still on ics.
do you have any other way to root.
what should i do now.

raju, 30 Jul 2013thanks ramy. but as u said i should unlock boot loader, so... moreRooting is enough for lot of stuff, but unlocking the bootloader is whole new level! I suggest you to upgrade your phone to official JB via pc... After that you can root it with method in my last post. I don't think it works with ICS.

I have used this phone for almost 1 year... everything about this phone is good, sexy and comfort.
Now a day tegra 3 seems ancient Compare to brand new processor like qualcom and exynos. But still. I can do everything in this phone...
I still recomended this phone to everyone.
Battery life (less than 4 hours in very heavy browsing) is only the bad side of my sexy,georgeos black optimus 4x hd.

As someone said before, unlocking the bootloader is a MUST if you want to give your phone a bit of fresh air. I did it and never regret it. I am on CM10 now and believe me it is way better than any stock rom. And I don't care what the benchmark say, it is simply smoother

This is easiest way to root o4x. Assuming you're on JB, of course. Follow the steps and you can't go wrong. I did it this way.
After rooting, you should unlock bootloader if you want to flash custom roms and play with phone. But, first things first. :)
And don't worry, you have to be a master to do something wrong when rooting. :) So, go for it!

Max, 28 Jul 2013Does this phone have an option to connect laptop via him to... moreim not sure if you can do it by cable but this phone can broadcast your 3g internet over wifi and connect your laptop to that wifi network.
so in short your phone works as 3g router.

pino, 28 Jul 2013as silly as this might sound i advice you to play a game fo... moreHi man! I suggest you to do what I did! On CM 10.1 phone runs smooth and batt backup is same as on original rom. And it looks much better. Antutu bench is 13091, which is lower than original, but I don't see any lags (I don't play games).
With unlocked bootloader you can install any custom rom and see what suits you most. Customization options are endless. It's great phone and now that my horizons gone wider it's even better! :)

AnonD-169976, 28 Jul 2013Guys i just bought a new 4X and i've been having a problem.... moreas silly as this might sound i advice you to play a game for 30 minutes and try to recreate this issue.
if it happens again and again bring it back as you might be one of the unlucky ones that has a broken sample.
the heating should never make the phone crash but some apps will i had one today...
so if it happens again download another game and try again.
shadowgun is a good game to try and heat it up but beware its 180 mb so dont use 3g and if you have limited data on your regular internet just try another smaller game like hungry shark (9.5 mb).
so first try to make it crash with the same app you where using earlyer whe it crashed if it crashes with that reboot again and try it with other apps.
if it keeps crashing its a warranty case.

Guys i just bought a new 4X and i've been having a problem. When the phone heats up the 2/3 of the screen became white(white screen of death probably). I restarted the phone and did a factory reset and now it's fine. Did anyone had this problem and might know what is the cause of it? Because it might happen again

wel so far so good the one remaning battery drain seems to be gone so far (phone active while screen off).
and i think its either the backup app or the software updater that keeps the phone active.
another thing could be cell broadcast that i disabled completly and removed from bootup.
just finihsed the first cycle of the battery with no unexpected drains at all i even tossed in a few reboots as this normaly seemed to create the issue.
illl keep you updated but it seems rooting is the way to make this phone perfect.

This phones is really cool I am very pleased with it. Especially considering it's price. I love LG, hope they keep improving
