pino, 31 Mar 2013sounds like build in protection. it starts charging slow... moreThanks pino....but is it for every phone out there....I think it's tegra 3 chipset causing the problem.....it's major power hungry source in 4x hd....and I know there will not be any resolution we have to bear with this....

bobby, 31 Mar 2013I also get charging issues when using sat navs in the car w... morecheck your car charger if its not atleast 1.2a with the default cable get a better one.
also if you use a longer non LG cable you often need more mah out of the charger like a 2.1a car charger.

Even when plugged in the battery will slowly discharge and that's with out the "slow charge " warning for if the phone has over heated.I have tried all the battery saving options within the satnav software but the battery still slowly discharges.

its amazing at call time at almost double of the 4x hd and it also has slightly better browse time and video playback time.
most likely due to optimisations in the new kernel the snapdragon s4 core and possibly android 4.2 tweaks.
saw some screens of the LG with the 4100 mah battery of ebay with the ugly fat cover, that thing has some stupid power hehe it gets 8 hours screen on time and 15 hours calling which is just insane.

Not even any of the mhl hdtv adapters for opt 4x has any reviews at amazon. And at £8 for the adapters, they are half the price of the sgs3 ones i was looking at.

Bobby, 29 Mar 2013Expancy prob only proper retailer to sell it in UK. Its whe... moreit's on buymobilephones.net. Yeah i'm all for being patient...i'm looking for no more than paying £20 pcm, and would rather go lower. The optimus 4x is available on three mobile for 15pcm with 1gb of internt data. And i'm stuck to only wanting three for a network as they are the only network that i've tested that is fast enough so i can use one phone as a mobile wifi hotspot, and then my sgs i9000 to play multiplayer games, so this would be a good option for tegra games online also. One real perk of the sgs is games like modern combat 3,4 are fully playable on a tv with tv out, on multiplayer with sgs as a controller, and all racing games, and even nova 3 is ok. IT seems mhl tends to be dongles and not wires, and i know the wireless dongles have lag if using for games, therefore making game unplayable on the tv. So lots to consider. I partly wish i would just get over games :) but for £0.69p a game that is often better than the psp games 17 years ago is a steal. btw, real racing 3 should be available for optimus 4x and is out now.

The LG optimus 4x HD is a great phone ... but to buy a year old design with probable no more os updates and to then keep it for 2 years is probably going to be frustrating . I love my phone but with all phones there is an optimum time to buy. To get maximum time with it most updates and at a good price I feel that time has passed for this good phone

Its where I got mine from . only problem with playing a lot of games is the battery life. But pino has covered that a few times. It is very easy to kill your battery quite quickly. I have a spare to hand just in case. Pino is very right in what he says about bang for your buck. But I would be very careful if you need it to last a couple of years as we don't know what's around the corner and LG probable won't do any serious updates after jelly bean 4.1.2 where you as any phone launched this year will get updates for a while and this year's have 2gb of ram and more efficient processor's. I love my phone for all that's good as well as the quirks! I like being the only person I know with one and have a slight snigger when I see all the mupets with Iphones and sgs3 having payed over the odds for em... But it is a brave choice as the shops in UK don't have accessories for em so eBay becomes your shop of choice and some aren't the best! Also don't forget that there is no apps to sd so all the good games that have a lot of data (eg real racing 2 1.25gb) all comes out of the 12gb system storage and not your sd card

Sgs3 has gone down now, so thats a likely buy instead. I couldn't find optimus 4x anywhere today in stores....it seems to have never taken off here, there's not much info about it.
I didnt want a micro sim, as that's a no go for the other phones that we have for general use...even with an adapter. It's handy to use a cheap phone a lot when out etc as my daughter (almost 3yrs) tends to get jealous if we are online when she wants attention (which is 99% of the time :) and swipes at them in a tantrum. I think these phones are well worth keeping longterm.....even if its just for the hd video recording and camera. So much in a phone.

and lets face it 4.1/4.2 are useless updates for 4x hd users 5.x might be worth it but theres nothing known about it so it might also add nothing important :)
so software uopdates is a choice but for most people they are completely irrelevant as they add nothing since 4.0
so choices vary per person but most need to just stop crying about updates as they dont need them for anything other then ego boosting and being able to say i have android 4.2 yay im special..
