Nerdology, 24 Dec 2013So I've had The LG Optimus G Pro (E88 model) for about a we... moreAgreed with most of what you said except the part you said battery could last more than 3 days or was it 3 weeks at Grandma's place. I totally disagree. The battery is huge 3140mah but it doesnt actually translate to good battery life. It dies too quickly whether connected to internet or not. Provided your screen is on, the battery goes down rapidly. 4hrs internet browsing time is crappy. Am not sure if mine has ever lasted more than a day, as a matter of fact it manages to make it through a day.

Got my LG G Pro E988 last Dec. 22 after swapping it with my Samsung S4, no doubt I made a very good decision. S4 been hanging from the day I got it. Compared with my LG G Pro E988 which runs very smooth with out any lags or what so ever. Very good phone.

So I've had The LG Optimus G Pro (E88 model) for about a week right now and It is my first LG phone ever,I came from the humbled samsung galaxy S advance and maybe this might not the most full fledged in depth review but I think I know enough about it to give my initial impressions/review,here it goes:
*Pros:
-Snapdragon 600 is always a plus, one of the things I always like about IOS and windows 8 phones, was how well they were optimized, how smooth the transitions were, how slick and fast the UI was,The G pro did that and more, speed is everything in this phone,so snappy,it makes you feel like every task you're throwing at it was nothing, worrying about multitasking is a thing of the past right, everything runs buttery smooth,games,apps,everything..
-The UI:hands down, one of my favorite things about the g pro is the UI,I love me some Optimus UI,it's really well optimized, slick and fast and never seems to bog down the system,it's almost as fast as stock android,on top of all this,it's one of the most fully featured UI I've ever seen,Lock screen widgets, lock screen transitions, home screen. transitions, themes, customization is the name of the day here,it's the only UI out there that I didn't replace with a launcher.
-Qslide apps:very inventive addition, although it does exist on other phones,it's always a plus, always comes in handy.
-The screen:1920x1080 full HD IPS+ 5,5" display, music to my ears, candy to my eyes, one of the most brilliant screens I've ever seen on a phone in my life, crispy, detailed,BRIGHT,natural colors...kudos to LG for making this masterpiece of a screen
-NFC,Wireless charging,4G LTE out the box:I don't to explain why that's a good thing,you know why it's good..
-Camera:a mixed bag but in the pros section, only the good would be mentioned, this is hell of a camera in broad day light,it is phenomenal in well lit environments, quick shutter, really detailed, colors are very well represented, fast and stable focusing, excellent microphone, zero lag, decent amount of features, including VR panorama,HDR and dual recording and intelligent auto, plus it looks really snazzy on the back, the rim around it reminds me of the HTC one X
-IR BLASTERRRRRR:because it's awesome,it just works and setting it up can't get any easier than this,TV,VCR,SET boxes, heck even air conditioners, works with every single brand out there, just not the very dirt cheap Chinese ones,a universal remote with unlimited capabilities.
-The LED light on the home button:it just oozes with cool,it starts a parade of colors when you power up the phone, lights up in red and dims depends on the level of charging percentage you've reached, the higher, the reder or more red it gets...whatever :D ,blinks and green for missed calls and sms,so many colors,I doubt I've even discovered them all, hands down, the coolest LED light I've seen on a phone,INNOVATION..
-Battery:3140 MAH,is a beast of battery,a road warrior, only for stand by times(more on that later),up to 350 hours of stand-by time, going at your grandmas house for 3 weeks and forgot the charger, worry not,the G pro got your back, charging times are also incredibly quick,1:30 of total charging time from 0-100%
-The stock apps:LG have provided some really decent apps with phone, the unlocked version of course,a very capable file manager that could even extract rar and zip files, battery app that gives very good information on the condition of the battery, including estimated times for everything, usage, charging, stats and so one,a very capable music player, with an equalizer and a widget and notification bar controls and YOUTUBE search,an offline dictionary(always a plus)
-Ear piece:one of the loudest I've ever heard on a phone, never had a problem in hearing someone's voice during calls
-The built quality/looks/size/hand feel:even though made from plastic,it feels very solid in the hand, sometimes even premium, the brushed metal on the sides, the nexus 4 esque back panel, looks really nice, even though inspired by the note II,I prefer this and I think it looks better, the size of it quite reasonable, granted the phone is big but the thin bezels on the sides makes it feel very compact and comfortable on the hand although very slippy, one hand usage is downright impossible, don't try this at home, your phone might fall, you could barely make calls with one hand, anything else, forget it.
-Price:the pricing point of this phone puts it in a league of its own, nothing can compete with this price point, whether you got it on contract or unlocked,LG nailed the pricing point on this bad boy, this is the best phablet out there within this price point,period..
-quad beats headphones:premium noise cancelling headphones, they sound great, have a lot of quality, having this in the box is definitely a plus..
and that was it for the pros,I may have forgotten a thing or it,forgive me if I did and now,on with the cons..
*Cons(and I being very nitpicky about this):
-Battery:Gaming:whether you're playing casual games or graphically intensive games,on 100% brightness this phone will blow through the 100% full battery to 0% in a couple of hours,no more no less, although,if you ask about the gaming experience,I couldn't be happier, silky smooth frame rates,no matter the game, asphalt 8,GT racing 2,anything,except for a few poorly optimized games here and there like plants vs zombies 2,as for those who are worried about heat management on this device, including the dreaded brightness reducing technique, none to be seen here, runs for two full hours with a tad bit of warmth around the back, nothing to worry about and I live in Egypt for the love of god,the temperature here is above the roof,no overheating or hanging or freezing or anything of that sort..as for browsing using Wi-Fi or Data,4 hours exactly on full brightness.
-The UI:I know I've praised the UI very much and I still stand by that, but there are some few things that I don't like about it,for example, once you go underneath the UI,like settings, menus, folders or the dial pad,it's very ugly, unpleasant to look at,I wish if they spent more time on the looks of the UI,other than that, satisfied.
-Camera:not very good in low light conditions, sometimes even underwhelming, very grainy, lacks details, lots of noise, the colors are poorly represented, even with intelligent auto or HDR mode,it still preforms poorly, unimpressive shots..here I come.
-Loudspeaker:you know what, forget about the "loud" part and just make it "speaker",because that what it is,a speaker,a standard,sub-par speaker, very tiny, not very loud, don't listen to music through that or even call people with it,it's underwhelming.
-Software:LG is just bad in software updates,Kitkat is getting released on phones everywhere and the G Pro is still stuck on Android 4.1.2
...and that was it for the review,my overall impression is that this phone is LG's best effort yet and it shows, every aspect about this phone screams with quality,I was never a fan of LG,their devices always failed to impress me but I always knew someday they'd come up with something special and the G pro is that something special,I would give a score/rating of outstanding (which equals a 9/10,if you're a by the numbers type of person),hope this helps you in making up your mind whether you'd to buy or skip this phone, thank you for reading.

The phone is sick good, I moved to a Galaxy S3 on this phone and I'm really thrilled with it, virtually no hint of lag while the S3 lag unable to appear due to a lack of RAM, the camera is great, daily image is sharp with full details of the 5.5-inch screen is completely appropriate to me because I have a little bigger hands and for those with a little less fist might be a problem but I think your performance and Full HD screen delight, any recommendations for this LG model
