After reading all the Pixel 2 XL news last few days I'm quite concerned about the V30. What are your overall 1st impressions?
I should visit the stores of Bur Dubai & Deira- am sure they'll have the gray market units now.

Rimac , 24 Oct 2017Where there is no advertising, the truth shining. It ain`t gonna shine if those guys don`t lit up the candles.. good advertising attracts good people great advertising attracts all. It does not matter if the hardware is great but if it`s unknown to many it`s just another piece of work that will sit in the cubicle.

But I have to say that I have seen LG commercials on tv as well since the G6 launch. I hope LG can market this phone quite aggressively because it’s what this phone deserves.

Samsung could have just put that money to a really great product like making more great phones in mid range level but has tha flagship performance.. But we all know it wont happen basically if you put a high-end hardware specs to a midrange phone it becomes a flagship even if its all made of plastic. Then on the opposite side great quality build but hardware sucks. I like samsung and lg's phones and so as other android phones but the one I really love is sony xperia on a personal thought. Sony's flagship phones are great but the problem is the design. We all known design has a big impact to sell out accordingly secpnd is features and then hardware and build quality. Lg did a great job on the V30 its just expensive.. Even though its cheaper than any other phone that is priced over $1000.

AnonD-709716, 23 Oct 2017Thanks Karolus, I was replying to Alien's comment (about f... moreI think I may be able to help you on your dilemma. Most premium phones nowadays are using glass as a basis for the design, but there are a few phones that stick to the traditional materials of phones. Namely One Plus 5, Nokia 8, and Google Pixel 2/2 XL. I'll be excluding ceramic builds because they are actually more fragile than glass, albeit they can resist scratches like a champ.

One Plus 5 is an amazing phone with a fairly reasonable price. All metal design with Gorilla Glass 5 for the screen, packing the latest hardware sets for optimal performance, and an operating system that beats stock Android in customization. Design-wise it isn't the most amazing phone, as it looks near identical to the iPhone 7. Meaning large bezel with a generic design that screams Chinese ripoff. To add insult to injury, One Plus recently was exposed for collecting user data in secret. They're trying to fix the problem but I doubt it will regain the trust of some users. Otherwise the phone is great aside from the lack of certain 2017 flagship features.

Nokia has a history of crazy memes flaunting its nuke-grade durability. And Nokia continues the tradition with their latest flagship, the Nokia 8. It sports an all metal design with Gorilla Glass 5 as the screen, a dual camera system in partnership with Zeiss, and a full stock Android experience. The design is unique but feels dated due to the new display standards other companies started in 2017 with an all screen design. Nokia 8 lacks that and still continues a large bezel screen in 2017. But if you prefer this design then go for it. The camera is decent with great performance in light and decent performance in low light. The "bothie" feature is still questionable in my opinion. And about the nuke-grade durability, check out JerryRigsEverything's video about the Nokia 8 durability. The phone is built like a tank. The Nokia 8 is a full package but feels bland for a 2017 phone.

Google Pixel 2 is my last recommendation for a metal nobody phone. Do note while it feels like plastic and glass, underneath the plastic-like coating, there is a sheet of aluminum. Pixel had a pretty mixed history of excellence and short comings that makes it a hard buy. In fact, I would make this my least recommended out of the 3 phones I offered due to build quality. The software, camera, and OS is all great, as expected of the Pixel line but the phone had severe problems. For starters, the Pixel 2 just looks ugly in my opinion with all that bezel, albeit the dual stereo-speakers does make up for it. The phone is easily bendable as well due to Google's design flaws (antenna line on the side where the glass and metal is separated snaps with low effort). And the Pixel 2 XL is suffering from severe screen-burn-in problems with the display. Honestly I think the original Pixel is a better choice over this one. But that is up for you to decide.

I do apologize for the not very brief descriptions of each phone, as I don't have any of them to judge clearly. I'd recommend you do research about these choices on your own time if you are interested. Any who, Cheers!

However, I am looking for a phone and I hate these glass phones. I like the quality of S8 but I read it breaks easily and I really don't want to take that risk.

And could you share some ni... moreI'm not sure what you mean by fragile but if you are talking about build quality then the choice material is your answer. Like the G6, the V30 is surrounded by Gorilla Glass 5 with an aluminum frame on the sides. The glass is pretty shatter resistant, as claimed by the company that made it, but will still shatter like any normal piece of glass.

I personally do not have a V30 to test out the camera quality but based on the pictures taken by other consumers with a V30, the camera is great in well lit situations. Color brightness is vibrant and seems snappy and the wide angled lens seems much more controlled (no fish eye effect of the G6). It performs less in low light but I don't really think it is a problem. Front camera is horrid, like with every other LG device.

Anonymous, 22 Oct 2017Anybody there ! Can you compare the Lg V30 with the Galaxy ... moreI believe your missing out the point? LG V30 is cheaper than Samsung S8+ and Note 8, same price level of the Galaxy S8. check your carriers pricing again, unless your network provider is having a price drop of the S8/S8+/Note 8 then the V30 is not on sale or any other promotion? that would be the only time it`s costly than S8`s. for some reason LG`s phone price drops faster than Samsung, for the reason Samsung is more well known than LG, LG are known for appliances not smart phones. Overtime Samsung produces great phones especially the Galaxy line ups. The G series of LG`s are great at the same time but nothing compare to the Galaxy line up and Samsung`s phone are well marketed than LG`s and we all know that Samsung try`s to compete with Apple. While LG is trying to compete with Samsung. Of course people will choose the well known product such as those 2 (Apple and Samsung). If your on the Android side and choose Samsung not LG because you said that the LG V30 is expensive than Samsung I`m not surprise.
if your on iOS and you choose iPhone 8 then I`m not definitely surprise at all. do check the price again. I know the V30 is $1000 CAD not US. so in US it must be $899.
