Hi my version is European currently running on latest firmware. Is there a way to set Google's Discover Feed when you swype right on the home screen? I know some LG phones can do it, but in my case I only have the option to choose LG's own Smart bulletin. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I don't know what everyone is crying about. I just bought a brand new LG V40 Unlocked (QA7) for $250 with a free $60 Otterbox Case. The model i have wan manufactured and built just 5 months ago. So the phone is basically brand new. After unplugging the phone on full charge, with the on screen display set to on. It stayed at 100% for 7hrs. Dropping just 1% probably because i got a few calls. On T-Mobile i get perfect reception using the 3C aggregation. BANDS 66, 71, 2, 4 and 12 all of which can get through walls. I get a peak download bandwidth of 30MB/s. The GPS is flawless and the ESS SABRE qDAC can easily push my Senhheiser 800HD's which are 650ohms+ and about $800. I am a audiophile so having an LG V-series phone is key. I could've got the V50 which is the same exact phone but with a bigger 4000mAh battery and SD855 SOC with a mini-Vapor chamber, which is great and all but everyone wanted way to much for a new Unlocked V50. Plus all the V50's i seen online weren't true Unlocked models. They were the Sprint version that was Unlocked for some of the GSM BANDS needed. $450+ for a Sprint/GSM Unlocked version or $250 for a (QA7) Unlocked V40. Plus i got a $60 Otterbox case and clip for free. Also the Unlocked version comes with some LG bullet headphones that come in handy when traveling. They can be tuned to sound pretty good for some stock ear buds. Another huge attribute is an FM radio with live Emergency broadcasts and the phone has an audio EQ plus options for FLAC files and setting up Bluetooth headset's with the aptX/HD codecs and bitrate. And the (QA7) V40 has HDMI out through it USB-c port. I'm using a QVS $35 4K120/1440p@120/60 and 1080p120/60. I was surprised to find that the phone simply said second screen connected and work flawlessly. No lag what so ever or input latency. Works like a charm on my 55in LG C9 OLED 4K120 Freesync/G-SYNC TV. Its still might be using Slimport for the codec. That's the only thing that could explain the perfect no lag/ latency connection. Don't get me gling about the Cameras. Which there are 5. The main camera alone can shoot 4K60, though at 6min intervals. But, still it shoots great 1080p60 on the video front or for still shots. Which then can be edited on the fly. The mics on the V-series are immaculate too. Go to a live concert, hit record and there will be no hissing or pops. Distortion free UHD audio at 24bit/192Khz. Then the biggest bonus of all. The LG V40 now has ROOT access thanks me and the guys over XDA. Using a engineering V35 boot file, we found a way to force flash that V35's SD845 boot file to the bootloader. Giving us access to ROOT. And with that we are now able to modify the thermal.conf.file, changing the Adreno 630 thermal thresholds. Essentially giving the Adreno 630 the ability to run flat out at 725MHz and not throttle. So no famous LG micro stutter or clipping. Tbe Adreno 530 on the V20 bad the same issue but was easily fixed. So the SD845's Adreno 630 is x2 as fast as the Adreno 530. Do to the architectural bump in transistors and a 50% in the ALU count. Giving the Adreno 630 512ALU's (GPU cores) Floating Point Units or whatever they want to call it. This GPU can push about 800GFLOPS of FP32 compute. The Adreno 530 has 256ALU's and about 500GFLOPS at peak on the SD821's Adreno 530. Yeah the SD855's Adreno 640 has another 50% bump in ALU's giving it 768ALU's but the clock speed shuts it performance down to about 900GFLOPS. Of course the SD855+ redeemed that number to just over a Teraflop (1000GFLOPS) of FP32 compute. The SD855+ is great but the SD865's Adreno 650 ups it one more time to 1024ALU's giving the SD865's Adreno 650 GPU over 1.2Teraflops (1200GFLOPS) of FP32 compute performance. I only upgrade when the performance of my CPU' GPU, or Mobile Smartphone's SOC doubles it performance. My next phone might not be the LG V60 because its only 1080p60. My next phone might just be the LG V50. If it ever get ROOT. Then i can turn it into a SD855+ SOC with a little bit of modding. I said my 2 cents. This is a great phone. I lucked out and got one of LG replacement phones for lost, broken or stolen phones. That why the build date was Dec.5th 2019 and it shipped from LG's warehouse 5 days later. I easily get 8 to 10hr's of on screen time with moderate use. Heavy use, it gets about 6hrs. Remember though, i'm running stock Android 10 with some of LG's stock apps installed. That's it. The SD845 thermally unconstrained is plenty fast for any game out there on Android. Some crazy unoptimized games like Mad City 2 Ark will definitely slow down any smartphone SOC. Games like Call of Duty, World War Heroes or Shadowgun Legends run as they were meant to. Any RPG, MMO or MMORPG. Whatever the kids are playing these days will run. For comparison. If you just go to IMEI check and run your IMEI it will tell you your build and manufacturers shipping date. Along with it Warranty period. Then on Antutu. Everyone's favorite Android benchmark my LG V40 gets a total score of 365,000 points. With the GPU scoring a massive 165,500 points and the CPU topping out at 120,00. No other SD845 device come close to this LG V40 Unlocked and modded. Not even the POCO F1. In the multi thread CPU score it reached 65,000. When SD855's are barely over 70,000-75,000 points. But that's just general gaming. The Geekbench scores are 530 single which isn't all that great but good. But, the mutli-threaded score gets a very close 2450. I haven't even used the ASUS ROG Phone 1's SD845+ 2.96GHz clock mod yet. K haven't really needed to. The LG V40 is plenty fast for any user. Just takes a little tweaking here and there. Hope't you enjoyed the story and info but, i gotta go. Feel free to comment or ask questions. I'm always up for helping someone or answering a negative comment...lol. ✌

Back in the days i used to own a V10, although i got the dreaded bootloop after a solid 1.5 years of usage, i thourgouhly enjoyed that phone and i was convinced that LG is much underratted compared to the other giants. I am from a country where its difficult to find new LG phones so i have to rely on a kit imported from abroad, these are probably refurbished devices. When i decided to buy V40 i knew what i am paying for (probably a refurbished device), BUT i am happy about my choice. This phone is much much underrated. Quick ,snappy a vibrant display and good battery. Battery is less than stellar though , which is expected from a 3300 mAh.
Overall im happy with my choice. Waiting for the Android 10 update, does anyone know when it is expected in LG V40 5EBW

LG V40 ThinQ on Verizon, here's some good news for you. The long awaited update to Android 10 for your device is now finally rolling out.
Both AT&T and T-Mobile have beaten Verizon to the punch, while Sprint is lagging behind even worse for some reason

This is a good/underrated phone. Yes the battery could be bigger, but keep in mind the year before the note 8 was almost the same size with a 3300mah battery. You get a lotta screen, great camera, phone takes good video, runs smoothly and is half or more the price of Apple Samsung used. The camera is not as good as an iphone and Samsungs screen a maybe a bit better (you only notice side by side) but neither one of these is to the point the phone is second rate to the two aforementioned. Bottom line it is a top tier phone. Honestly (and I have done this too) we punish this and other phones for not being Samsungs or Iphones. The OS is not the same button mapping is dif. Give LG and others a chance

Loveforever, 29 Apr 2020Use Zerolemon batteryLG V40 is undercut by it's poor battery life. It's a fact. Just look at the pathetic battery endurance results that GsmArena performed on V40.
If a phone can't get through a whole day of my usage, as much as I am concerned it can have the coolest features on the entire planet, it can even tie my shoe laces for me but I cannot recommend or buy it. It's out of question.
