Love this phone. It has almost everything: quad hd screen, fast performance, ip68 rating, expandable storage, boombox speaker 3.5mm jack, five cameras. Battery life is meh but no phone is perfect.

Nice phone but why move the power butten to the side. Please LG move it back,,,, to the back of the phone.

I had a Samsung Galaxy S7 that I loved it first , but a year later it became laggy would shut off on me and I traded it in for a budget LG k20v, and I was very impressed with it & kept it for about 8 months until I was able to upgrade to the v40 and my goodness this phone is amazing ,sharp picture, with one of the highest resolutions out there on the 6.4 in p o l e d screen and it looks stunning that quad DAC IP68.blazin fast processor etc etc... this phone is a total Power House that flies under the radar but for people who love to listen to high quality music this phone is for you and that's just one of the great things that it does...

Nice looking phone but too expensive at the moment. Hopefully there will be a price drop.

Really enjoying the LG V40. Sound from the speakers is awesome! Really nice pictures from the camera. I've no issues with battery life (tons of usage at work & home) as I can make it through the day with plenty of juice to spare. Notch can be concealed, but I just got used to it in all honesty & just left it be. Headphone jack & quad DAC are the joint. Great phone for me and my usage. An underrated gem in a sea of overrated pretenders for me.

I think the mediocre battery is a worthwhile tradeoff for the headphone jack and boombox speakers. It will get you through a day and I'm never far from a charger. If I'm stranded in outer Mongolia it might be a problem.

Lg really need to fresh start with brand name

I've owned a number of LG phones: LG Leon, G4, V20 and most recently, the V40. I've had no problems with any of these phones. The thing with LG is the issue of Quality Control or lack thereof. I escaped the boot loop debacle with the G4, my V20 made the transition from Nougat to Oreo without the problems some of my fellow owners experienced, and the Leon was handed down to my sister and just recently passed on to android heaven. You look at LG-focused sites and it looks like posters are talking about 2 very different phones. Some are happy with the performance of their device while others think they own the biggest POS to ever be produced. I suggest that once you have the phone in hand you put it through all of its paces during that first week...I mean test everything. Start with getting it set up right there in the store and have someone call you, start taking videos, etc. I have an almost 3 year old T-mobile branded V20 that has been my daily driver right up until the purchase of the V40 about a month ago. I actually had no intentions of purchasing another LG device after they decided to become more Samsung/Apple like and took away all of the features that made the V20 a stand out phone. I decided since they were going to be more Samsung-like I might as well cut out the middleman and bought a Samsung device. But when I was offered a new in the box V40 for $400 I couldn't pass that up. I have been very pleased with my phone. It does last me the whole work day during which I use navigation continuously, stream I Heart radio, exchange emails, make phone calls, access the company website for client info and browse the internet for news stories. The camera/video special effects are fun and I am very happy with my purchase.

Cons——poor battery life, not great front camera like always, too long and big design, power button should be in the back!! Otherwise, its a great phone. Not switching my v30 anytime soon!!!

I don't know what's wrong with LG, I wonder if do they really go through expert reviews on youtube and on tech websites or care about customer feedbacks..
Lots of negative reviews about LG G7 bad battery life still only 3300 mah battery in this 6.4" high res screen phone...
It is like a selling a powerful all feature rich car with 15 liters of fuel tank, when you drive it runs great but after each 10 km you have to refill its tank..

I shall go with the Mate 2... moreIn my country LG V40 and the P20 pro are at same price inspite of LG launching the V40 just last month and the P20 pro is available since long back. Mate 20 not available in my country only the Mate 20 Pro which is super expensive more than Note 9. LG even though launched the G7 and V40 late in my country but they launched them both at great prices.
G7 in my country costs less than the OP6 and the V40 costs less than the S9+.
Different markets different dynamics I would say.

It's kind of sad that LG V40 and Mate 20 series were announced at roughly the same time, but LG V40 is only available 3~4 months in many countries (including mine) after its announcement. By then, Mate 20's price have already dropped considerably and looks more favorable to buyers. If LG V40 and Mate 20 were of the same price, I would have gone for the LG V40, mainly due to its comparable (and at times superior) triple cam setup and excellent video recording quality, despite its poorer battery.

Anonymous, 17 Feb 2019Which triple camera phone should I get between LG V40 and H... more1. Mate 20 battery life better than V40.
                                        2. Camera quality all reviews will tell you that Mate 20 is better than V40 and some will even tell you it's better than the Galaxies. I personally like the V40 pics more than the Mate it's my opinion and maybe wrong.
                                        3. Video quality LG is better it supports 4K 60fps, HDR 10 video recording and LGs manual mode is superb.

But if the Mate 20 is 200 USD cheaper then why bother the V40 ? Simply go for the Mate 20. Battery life and camera both are awesome you won't regret it.
