I like everything that I am reading about the new LG V50 except the inability to replace the battery. I purchased an LG V20 several years ago specifically because it had a replaceable battery. When the battery in the V20 failed, as all batteries do, I was able to purchase replacement batteries and extend the life of the phone. At present, I have no intentions of obtaining a phone that does not have a replaceable battery. As such, the V50 is NOT the phone for me.

Still snappy, still smooth with Nova Launcher Prime, and the camera quality (as long as you download GCam) is pretty good. It's just that OEMs just want you to get a new phone every year now. I'd love a new OEM to give us vanilla Android, perfect hardware, removable battery, and decent enough updates. Guarantee you, that brand would steal LG, Sony, and OnePlus fans in a heartbeat.

The desire to have user replaceable batteries, headphone ports (separate from charging port), expandable storage and screens with no obstruction whatsoever will always be around and never go extinct. The same goes for affordable prices. If you want consumers to embrace notches and holepunches... start putting them on TV screens and movie theater screens first. If you want headphone ports to disappear... stop the manufacturing of wired headphones first. If you want expandable storage to be "obsolete" ...start making affordable smartphones with Terabyte capacities and test to see how consumers react. Change is inevitable. The issue is who benefits from said change and more importantly, who loses. It seems ridiculous to conceive such notions, doesn't it ? I went crazy and insane when user replaceable batteries were no longer available in flagship tier smartphones. I kept wanting and looking month after month, year after year and the "results" have not changed. I still can't find a flagship tier smartphone with user replaceable batteries. So go ahead and 'Tech Smack' me with your replies... if you do, you prove you're just as crazy as me.

Notch alert. Brands are going for a total bezel-less design, or going for either a waterdrop notch or a cutout notch.
LG, like HTC are always behind and are always losing market because they don't follow the trend. Much like Sony now.
Look how big of an impact oneplus phones have nowadays.

I have the V40 and I really like it, also had the V20. When this comes out I plan to get my wife the V40 at big price reduction. We will use them till they are old and then by the V50 at a discount. We always buy one generation back flagship for a lower price. I prefer that over the newest mid grade phone.

I got one LG in the past (before 2010) and someday thr display just stopped to work...then I swore that i will never buy a LG phone again.
Of course, this was another time and this kind of issue is very rare nowadays.
From the specs, this phone looks really great. The hardware for the camera is promising but I have doubts about the software and the AI. Battery has always been a problem for LG phones but this one gets apparently a bigger battery size...
Let's see when it is on the market.

I'll buy this phone in 2020 when it's around $400. Happy with my V35.

Riddle : If a smartphone that has a sealed/non user replaceable lithium battery with an IP68 rating can be charged both via wire and wirelessly... why can't that technology be applied to just the battery itself ?
Create a battery with a Qi coil and make the battery waterproof as well as making the smartphone (with battery removed) IP68 rated. Is that technological advancement ? ? Whadduya ThinQ LG ?
