MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ announced for future mid-range smartphones

MediaTek's latest mid-range mobile chipset is here - well, it's official today. It's called Dimensity 6100+ (if you're old enough this will definitely give you AMD Athlon XP vibes) and it supports Sub-6 5G (no mmWave here).

Its CPU has two Cortex-A76 cores and six Cortex-A55 cores. The chipset supports 10-bit 90 Hz or 120 Hz displays, "AI-powered cameras" (up to 108 MP) with "2K" 30fps video capture, and "UltraSave 3.0+ technology" which offers 20% reduced 5G power consumption compared to "competitive solutions", whichever those may be.

"Stunning portraits and selfies" are enabled by "AI-bokeh", and MediaTek is also working with Arcsoft to bring "AI-color" technology to mainstream devices "so users can showcase their creativity". No, we don't know what any of that actually means either.

But we are bound to find out once the first devices powered by this chip hit the streets, and that's expected to happen at some point during the third quarter of this year - so from now until the end of September.

Wait was this even a new chip? It just looks like a rebrand of the Dimensity 700? Same cores, same frequencies, same GPU, same everything, but they claim it's now 6nm? Idk if I believe it's "6nm." Well I mean it obviously wa...

That's why I said it's "not in par", bcuz it has significant difference between both of the chipset. You might just not catch what I mean, as you might think that I'm saying 7+ Gen 2 is far worse, while in reality I'm sa...

That too is old news now. Using ROMS is possible on select mediatek devices and you are not necessarily locked into just 1-2 updates (Nord 3 will get 3 OS upgrades). It's all dependant on brands and price.
