Megapixel phone from Nokia - 7610

17 March, 2004
Nokia introduced at CeBit 2004 the company's first megapixel camera phone - the Nokia 7610. "We are now entering an era where camera phones will become mainstream imaging devices," said Juha Putkiranta, Nokia's Senior Vice President, Imaging Business Unit.

Nokia 7610 phone offers an integrated megapixel (1152 X 864) photo and video camera with a high-quality lens, 4x digital zoom, and a self-timer, capable of capturing images even in low-light conditions. The 65,000 color screen provides an excellent possibility of enjoying the results. The RealOne mobile player enables users to watch real-time video streaming.

The Nokia 7610 users can not only shoot or watch videos. Owing to the Movie Director application they can even create short films or music videos of up to 10 minutes. The application allows users, for the first time, to turn video clips captured with their Nokia 7610 into personal movies by adding special effects such as music, text, new colors or moving objects. The captured digital pictures can be edited and organized on a PC with the Adobe® Photoshop® Album software included in the sales package. Using the Kodak Pictures application on the phone, pictures can be uploaded to a virtual photo album on the web and shared online. Another innovative concept available for the Nokia 7610 is the Nokia Lifeblog application, adds an automatic digital diary recording and organizing the digital content. Printing the pictures was never easier and it happens in just a few seconds via a Bluetooth connection to a compatible printer.

The other key features of the Nokia 7610 include rich Multimedia Messaging, email, and MP3/AAC music player, Internet browser, 72MB of expandable memory, USB, Bluetooth connectivity and support for Java technology. The small and sleek 118 gram phone offers up to 3 hours talk-time and 250 hours of standby time.

The tri-band model based on the Series 60 Platform is planned to be available during the second quarter of 2004 in two variants, GSM 900/1800/1900 and GSM 850/1800/1900. It is expected to retail for approximately €500.
