AnonD-308477, 31 Dec 2015please tell us when you do and how. This is why it is not c... moreDon't stress to much that your on 4.54 vs 5.1.1 you are really not missing out on too much. Eventually you will get the latest update. I would rather stick to the older is sometimes in certain cases even though I can assure you that you be disappointed on flyme 5.1.1
I remember updating my Motorola droid turbo from Android kitkat 4.4.4 to lollipop 5.1. It ruined my phone the battery life was draining like crazy. It was a disaster. This is also a common issue for people on the apple iOS when then updated to the newer iOS. So trust me always let others trial the is for at least a month before you update. Cheers

AnonD-308477, 31 Dec 2015Ok so i have the pro 5 64gb for 2days now. First day i fou... moreHi Boller
I believe you might have a different flyme os then the one I have. When I received my version it had slot if Chinese text bullshit on it. Another words I believe it might be the flyme made for the Chinese in China and not the international version. However I do have the option to change text to certain languages. I am able to update to flyme 5.1.1 I believe some of you guys have the international version which does not give you the option to update automatically. But I am sure you will be able to root the phone and do a manual install.
As far as your 70k vs 90k. To be able to achieve the 90k. Go to settings under power management change your mode to performance. And this should definitely increase your speed to 90k on antutu.
I hope this helps. Cheers

Ok so i have the pro 5 64gb for 2days now. First day i found out what flyme version i had and if it was up to date. It dont have latest one ,im stucked with 4.5. System could not find any update. One of my question is where do i find out flyme version again? and search for update. I know it sounds wierd i cant find it again. I would like to have the latest version.
I also did antutu test and first i got 20k someting, i tried again then i got 70k something .For the last test this is 20k point below the one on the scorelist. So how do i get 90k points?
I did some test with ookla speedtest . To see check out my netspeed . This phone comes with cat 6= 300mbps/50mbps .
With my Htc E8 i get an average speed of 10mbps down, but with pro 5 its between 5-7 mbps down. I tried many times and it varies too much imo.
Just to tell i have free use of data from my carrier. Not on contract. Something im very pleased over. So where they have LTE i have it too, free of use.
Im trying to get used to the phone. I can say that for me the build quality is super.
The flyme os 4.5 is not something much i would speak out loud about. There are simple things im used to from htc m7 and e8. Phonebook, message app are poor on pro 5. Browser that comes with it is poor.
Weather app coming with the phone is poor too.
For me those are simple basic apps that should be improved alot. I installed a weather/clock app that i like to have on my homescreen ,something i had on my HTc phones. But what is weird here is the time dont work with the phone. When i add the widget to homescreen it shows right time but after maybe 5min its not moving forward. I did not experience this with my htc ,anyone else having this problem? solutions?
The sound is not so bad,if it had double speakers this could be better than HTC sound.
With headphones im not super impressed. HTc again is better on this. I want hear this Hi Fi sound 2.0 they selling the phone with/listed. The line in for headphones should be placed at the bottom of the phone not at the top. Think this is a big downside .I feel that is way better.
I have not tried the camera so much, took a selfie . I think my htc and even ipod 5g take better selfie pics. Color are not so bright/warm,more like cold i think.
I tried to shoot a vid. Could not see the 2160p option. Is it listed to play 2160p ,or and film in 2160p too?
I hope i get flyme version 5 ,maybe it is better, improved.
Imo the biggest issue with this phone is flyme. I wish it was clean android.Could make the phone top notch.
And clean international version, there are some chinese text here and there. -chinese apps that is totally useless for me.
I like i can tap on the screen to wakeup the phone(settings) ,the fingerprint is great. I can choose to unlock the phone with my finger or code at the same time.
calling/sound mod need to be improved alot. Sound button should also be able to put the phone on vibrate. This is something im used from HTC.
I think the screen is great. I must say i almost love it.
All in all the phone have alot of potential ..the frame/design is great. It's up there with samsung and apple. Great and solid build quality. It's is a big phone and take time to get used to it. But im feeling it more and more. Going from 5" to 5.7" is a big change. Fast charge and usb c is great. For 483usd in total and no tax, it is worth the money.

Regarding the Audio test. I would like to know if you actually used the dedicated Hifi D/A. It is weird, but Meizu chose to let it only run when some specific apps are running music. If you want to use the D/A e.g. for Spotify, PlayePro, ... you need to add the packagename to one specific textfile (google for more info). When I am listening to music the stereo effect seems to be perfect, and also the overall sound quality is impressive. I guess the reviewer tested only the standard D/A instead of the Wolfson/TI one.

AnonD-460535, 24 Dec 2015Thank you for your reply.
First of all, here is an image, ... moreWhich country are you located in. They have stung you $190 in taxes. We are lucky here in Australia they don't have taxes on items unless they are over $1000.
It sounds weird that you are not able to update to flyme 5. I would be looking at manually doing a download. I think it will hopefully makes some if the issues go away.
I understand how you feel. When you pay so much for a phone you expect not to have the issues that you have had. This automatically gives you a negative view and turns you off about that brand or product. I still strongly feel that the Chinese brands are amazing and have improved drastically and have better options and features that the well known brands are missing. One feature is that you even mentioned such as fast charge. Man you pay over $1000 for an iPhone it doesn't have a fast charging. Yes all phones have positives and negatives. I am a very picky person and look for problems and like to solve ways to overcome to suit my user functionality. If I am convinced and am not convinced or happy as it won't meet my expectations I will get rid of it. Currently this handset has worked for me and I am pretty happy with the outcome. I hope you can resolve your problem and enjoy using it also. Best of luck. Thanks

Ademli, 23 Dec 2015Sorry my post was finished.
Secondly I am on flyme 5.1.1 ... moreThank you for your reply.
First of all, here is an image, proving that I own the device:
http://oi68.tinypic.com/2m63k2g.jpg
The device costs about 450$ for the 64gb version but because of the customs and taxes, the price went up to about 640$. I have used the device for quite a while now and I just can't get used to its size and to the interface. It's too much "iOSish" and I like the android style with app drawers. Perhaps things have changed in the Flyme 5, I did not experience this version yet. When I search for an update in my device, it says that the device is up to date with version 4.5.4.2I.
Plus the Meizu did not recognize and SD card I've put inside, and I had to format it because it messed it up. I lost a lot of pictures in the process because the card was corrupted (I have a picture of it too, if you do not believe me)
I have no intention to move people away from buying this device. I think a decent device overall, I just cannot get used to it. The battery is great (also charges up super fast), audio quality is good (even though it's not as par as the HTC One M8 for example), camera is average to good. Low light is mediocre though, but it's typical for cameraphones.
For someone who wants a device that looks and feels like an iPhone 6 plus without it actually being an iPhone, it's a nice deal.
Buying from Chinese OEMs is something I am going to avoid from now on though.

AnonD-428046, 28 Oct 2015Meizu Pro 5 has just scored 76852 on Antutu hardware test, ... moreWhich version on antutu are you using.
I downloaded antutu 6 and got a score of 90k on flyme 4.5.4 and then I downloaded flyme 5 and got a score of 87k. I have the 4gb phone. Would that be a reason I have a much higher score . The hunger mate 8 was the only higher one at 92k. I was amazed. I would love to put up a screen shot but it won't allow me.

Coming from a oneplus one I could not find any handset that would satisfy the oneplus one as a replacement. I have tried other handsets from the droid turbo iPhone 6 and the Samsung s6. I just wasn't convinced and fully happy with any of them to battery issues, heating, practicality and other things like sound volume and simplicity of functions. Until now. I have been using this meizu pro 5 for 3 days now and can say I am impressed. No it's not a perfect phone. It definitely needs improvements. However it is very stable and made me feel satisfied and happy on its flyme 5. Coming from cynogen 12.1 I was very impressed. Apart from some Chinese apps running in the background and occasional Chinese text popping up which I need to figure out how to remove. I can say this phone is on my favourite list for now. Meizu has really amazed me. Also the people who are worried about the phone being 5.7 inch and being to big. I had the same concern. But really it's is not bigger than the iPhone 6 plus or any 5.5 inch screen even though it has a larger screen. In reality a phone should not be bigger 4 inch that's why the iPhone 5 had the best in hand feeling. But these days we use our phones for web browsing and watching videos YouTube or playing games so it's no longer just a phone but a mini computer. So 5.7inch I think is a perfect size for me anyway. 😀

AnonD-470735, 09 Dec 2015Any comments about the camera? Better or worse than G4/Note... moreYou cannot compare the meizu camera to the note 5 or even the note 4. Samsung makes one of the best camera phones. The only phone that I found to have a better than the note 5 camera was my old Nokia 1520 camera. Saying that the Nokia 1020 also has an amazing camera. Samsung best camera is on the s4 zoom I believe. But that has a real zoom camera on it 😀
One more thing in reality mega pixels isn't everything. We dont think the meizu pro 5 having a 21mp camera should be better than 16mp camera. I would give the meizu pro 5 camera a 6 out of 10. Where as I would give the Samsung note 5 camera a 8 out of 10. This is just my opinion and others will see and can think differently as there taste will be different. I am not a professional photographer but I am graphic designer that has 20years of experience working and editing photos in photoshop. So I hope I have not offended anyone 😁

Secondly I am on flyme 5.1.1 and getting and easy 8 hours + of screen time watching video web browsing and general calls messaging and emailing. It's sound like your hand has massive issues or it's a fake or an imitation model.
The flyme is amazing and very stable. Man what bugs. I feel sorry for you and don't believe your review is genuine and strongly would advise people who are invested in this handset to consider reading other reviews and watching YouTube videos. I know the phone is still very new and not probably well reviewed in English as I could not find very helpful reviews and comparison in English. The only week side to this phone I would say is the camera compared to the high end brands like the iPhone 6s or Samsung s6. But it's definitely better than the other brands in many other ways. Especially for the cost compared to the other brands. I am not Chinese but can say the chinese phones have really improved and are not behind the known brands that we are made to buy believing that we can not go wrong with them where as they have have gone downhill and have the same software and other hardware issues that all phones and devices have.
Don't forget all the phone companies use exactly the same hardware processors and rams and gorllia glass. They just use low end or high end processors and quality components depending on the model of the phone and price they have it for sale.
The only handset that uses a different processor is apple and they have severe heating issues on the a9 processors which they use on the iPhone 6s phones. There are also of negative points that they force the user to cut back on features due to baterry consumption. This a joke you pay $1000 for a phone and can't use half of its functions due to trying to save battery life. Anyway I am getting off the topic. Meizu pro 5 has a heap of features you will not get in the flagship models in today so market. Meizu pro 5 won't disappoint and is worth every penny you pay for it. 😀

I have been owning this phone for more than 24 hours now and here is my detailed experience with the phone:
Bought it from a local retailer for about 600$. My first impression was that the phone is really HUGE.
The screen is big and bright, has great colors (even though it's colder than other screens, even after I calibrated it). I thought that I could get used to the size (my Samsung S3+ looks like a toy next to it) but sadly, I can't. It's too big in the pocket and even though I have big hands, I find it hard to handle. I think that Meizu should have went with a 5.5" screen (which is still to big for my taste), 5.7" is just too big for a phone! It's about the same size as the iPhone 6+.
Build quality is overall good. The phone has some weight to it, and you can feel its presence. Side buttons do move in their place though, I really don't know how to describe it better but the power button is not solid. The home button is squishy, the fingerprint scanner is a hit or miss. Sometime it says "fingerprint mismatch" and I have to place my finger again so it would register. Also, it only recognizes your finger only in the direction you put it. I mean, if you put your finger horizontally, but tried to unlock it vertically, it wouldn't register! You have to put the finger in the same exact location you have configured it with. Also you only have 5 fingers to register (I think that most phones have 10).
Flyme OS is buggy and unintuitive. I have the Flyme OS v. 4.5.4.1 and it's really hard to get used to. My father has the M2 Note so I knew the basics of the operating system, but moving from a TouchWiz OS I am having a hard time without the app drawer. It resembels the iOS (which I strongly dislike), but much more hefty. The gallery is incredibly uncomfortable, giving folders chinese names (even though they're named in English in my SD card) and it's hard to move between pictures since the fact that when you slightly rotate your two fingers when trying to pinch, the picture rotates. Also my SD card was not recognized by the device, so I had to erase everything from it and recopy all of the data.
The battery is great. I have used the phone for more than 3 hours continously and it went down by almost 20%, which is great. Brightness is excellent, much more brighter than my previous i9305 device.
One thing that matters to me te most, is music. Unfortunately, the music player is horrendous. Searching for a certain song takes A LOT of time, if it even finds it eventually. Also you have to choose "Library" every time you enter the player and then you get the "artists, albums" etc. and it's really uncomfortable. Audio output was decently loud, even after enabling DAC. I think that the HTC Desire Eye (which I thought of buying and eventually passed on) produced much better sound quality through headphones. Speaker volume is alright, even though you notice some "creaks" on higher volumes.
The phone is blazingly fast though, everything happens in a matter of a second with the Exynos chipset and even though there's 4GB of RAM, RAM management is pretty bad. I had about 1.9 RAM left after closing all apps, I think that the OS uses much more RAM than it should (hopefully it'll be fixed with the Flyme 5 update). I played a lot and did not experience any overheating.
The camera is good in daylight, I had some great pictures from it, but it's absolutely horrible at night. Pictures went blurry and undetailed and it was really disappointing to see because I had high hopes for the camera. Also it takes a while to focus sometimes, even with the laser autofocus. The LEDs are bright enough to produce enough light for dark photos.
Overall, even though this phone is pretty good, I wouldn't recommend it. My experience with it was not that good, and this is my first chinese phone which isn't the the grand OEMs and I have to say I am really disappointed. I actually wanted to return it but the retailer said that I can't because I've already used it. If you're comfortable with the size, it is worth thinking about, but the buggy OS and the price (at least at where I live), are not worth it. Meizu should really work on their interface, until then. I can't say it's a good buy.
Thanks for reading :)
