I think you have download alot of apps in it's SD card that is why it is hanging, please move apps and games to your phone memory instead of the SD card. However you should try a soft reset on your phone (Note: This function will not erase your any data wheather it is stored on the phone or on the SD card) To soft reset your phone, press and hold the volume down button+the power button for about 10 sec wait for your phone to restart. After that please correct your date and time or the phone will not work properly.. After that if you have signed in to a microsoft account, please synchronise it. After this process your phone should work properly. If it still gives issues, kindly reply.. And please reply me if your problem will get resolved.

Once i update my phone win 10 after that i reset (factory reset) it will cause win 10 to win 8.1

First of all download the app upgrade advisor from store
Click check for update
Then go to settings >update+BACKUP>PHONE UPDATE >CHECK FOR UPDATES>DOWNLOAD

I too own a Lumia 640 xl . And its been a year and a half and yet I have no issues with it but as your phone is not working as expected you may try resetting your handst which may do the magic

Dear Concern,
I am writing here as i hope someone can help me in this regards.
I have wasted my 13,000/- by purchasing MICROSOFT LUMIA 640 XL. This mobile is hanging almost 10 times a day, i need to restart many times to set it rite because i have no option as it is freezed. Because of this i am wasting my time in office and most of the official work is delayed. Basic apps like whatsapp also not opening after many attempts. It shows notification that received whatsapp message but, it doesn't open. I am fed up by this phone and i want my amount refund as i beleive it is not going to be resolved. If i had spend 13,000/- taking an android Mobile rather than spending on this handset, i could have got far better experience that this and with better usage.
I trusted the brand name MICROSOFT. But, i was wrong this is the worst experience of my life in mobiles. I earlier used blackberry, Android and never faced just difficulty in using the phone. it takes hours to open any app.
Before purchasing i was confused to purchase MICROSOFT or I Phone(Apple). As per market feedback, i thought it would be good to take microsoft mobile as it will be useful for me for official purpose also. But , i was wrong in my choice.
I expect value for money. 13,000/- amount is not less. This kind of mobile must be sold only for 4000-5000/- only.
I want update from you as i trusted your brand. What help can i get in getting refund amount.

I feel disappoint after using this mobile. The main reason is system is not stable and slow response when I click to open application. Facebook and Line that I use frequence is too much hang out and it reloaded.
Now I switch to use my old mobile phone sumsung note2 even it slow and consume battery but it better than nokia lumia.
