I was very happy with the Nokia Lumia 925, so I upgraded to the Microsoft Lumia 950 as soon as it got out. At first, it was a good experience, save a battery drain problem. But as Microsoft "upgraded" it, it became worse and worse to the point I cannot considering using it anymore for professional usage.
It is unreliable, unstable, erratic and does what it wants. Sometimes, the screen does not react, leaving you infuriated to be unable to pick up an important phone call.
One night, I was confronted to a life and death emergency on the road. I found out to my absolute dismay that the phone was in the process to upgrade itself... Watching the bar inch forward to pass an emergency call while a person is bleeding to death next to you is not an experience I wish to live again (miraculously the person survived).
I am not counting the times when the phone seems normal but cannot receive calls because it expects a sim card code (of course, it rebooted at some point without asking, with superb disregard for scheduled time... Or not considering useful to notify the user that phone is offline). When you find out and the missed calls notifications start to pile in, you'd want to hurl the thing out of the window.
The calendar management is pitiful, does not support google, and does not work well with... Outlook.com (it mixes up the accounts in manners nobody can understand). Continuum is a joke (better use an iPad with iCloud). Groove music is the worst player around. Pictures gallery does not remember where it was when you open a picture (letting you scroll down hundreds of pics to reeume browsing...). I stop here but the list goes on.
I am not a geek. I chose the Lumia because at first it seemed simpler that an Android and better for work than the iPhone. I did not expect that I'd need any sort of technical skills to simply be able to use it when I need it or to make it behave in a common sense manner. To me, it was designed by people who are clueless about how a phone is used in a day-to-day manner. After 11 months of experience, I found that the user experience has considerably degraded, despite the blaring promises.
I must say I LOVE Windows 10 on PC as it is a really good and simple system for non-specialists (who represent the majority). But on the Lumia, it is simply catastrophic.
I think I will never buy another Lumia phone again unless significant and decisive improvements are made. To me, its lack of reliability is close to criminal (a mobile phone is not simply a mobile facebook terminal or a pocket entertainment console, gents. It is a communication device and communication is a very serious thing for many people). As of today, it would be suicidal to trust the Lumia with your life.
Microsoft managed to mess up a very sleek piece of hardware into junk. If they were honest, they would write in big, bold letters on the box:
THIS IS ONLY A TOY, DO NOT USE FOR ANY SERIOUS PURPOSE.

No more Lumia phones ..Thank god Microsoft is ending this junk that I owned myself called Lumia,so far behind other phones and it was hell owning one....Some Apps are also being pulled off by the company's ... Nokia made great phones over the years until they joined windows and then leaving altogether..Then windows destroyed itself with these terrible phones..

Microsoft is a unique smartphone company, Currently I'm using Microsoft Lumia 540. I'm very happy with the Microsoft. I have read specifications of Lumia 950. Specifications are fabulous. I hope, it will launch soon. I'm very excited for the Microsoft Lumia 950. I'll buy it soon.

rocky, 24 Aug 2016Hi.. after lastest update on 950 my phone gives me troble i... moreSounds like the proximity sensor at the top of your phone is being obscured by your screen protector (standard or tempered glass). If not then it may be faulty. Had an issue with proximity sensor on my own Lumia 930 had to send it off for a fix, basically the glass on the screen needed re-glued...

Microsoft are and have delivered tools to help developers port there Android, iOS and Legacy Win32/64 apps to modern Windows 10 Universal Apps for the Windows Store.
Kodi have begun work on their Win32/64 port with the help of Microsoft and have been surprised how easy it has been.
If people don't believe me then search it on Bing (or Google).

**Actually only one Google app in Windows store, its search app, ancient, unsupported app by Google**
Which of the big three companies has the most cross-platform apps - have a guess!

Try a few hard resets after aforementioned updates....
Lumia 930 user here on latest Anniversary update build and all is working stellar.

standard fm apps (non-internet radio) are available in the store as replacements

You really need to get onto the updates when you first switch on the device. Only wish if they use the same materials on the back as used for my old Nokia Lumia 920
