Microsoft to pull the plug on Sunrise Calendar app in August

Himanshu, 12 May, 2016

The Sunrise Calendar app, which was acquired by Microsoft last year, will be shut down on August 31. The news was delivered by the Sunrise team in a blog post.

The entire team is now working on Outlook, meaning Sunrise Calendar is no longer a priority for Microsoft. "Unfortunately, as all good stories go, there’s a sad bit to it: we’re not able to support and update Sunrise anymore," the Sunrise team said in a blog post.

"For this reason, we’ll be removing Sunrise from the app stores in the next few days. On August 31, we’ll officially shut down the app and it will stop working all together." It's worth mentioning that the app had already stopped receiving updates late last year.

Microsoft ruined Nokia, now they are ruining one of the best calendar app. If microsoft release separate calendar app with all the features of sunrise calendar I might give a chance.

8 people out of 10 are not using Outlook. Also, I believe they're incorporating other ideas relatively unrelated to Sunrise into Outlook.
