3)Select "Use Bluetooth"
4)Search for the other device

hey I have the a1800 and i am unable to sent or receive texts and i also am not able to send songs via bluetooth. Can anyone assist me with this problem?

Moto... moreActually I don't consider A1800 is the successor of A1200, especially the "Opening Price Point"...
A1800, which also supports CDMA, is being sold for about USD$800 (Yike!) in PRC.
Meanwhile, A1600, which adds a better cam, GPS, AGPS, more external memory, is being sold for USD$395 in Hong Kong, which is closely to A1200, which was sold for about USD$421 when A1200 was first launched.
I still have my A1000 in my "collection", which actually still works. (the only problem is the old type of charger plug, which isn't very stable) I feel proud of my A1000, because it took the almighty brand almost 4 years to come out with its own 3G touchscreen device.

1)A1200 released in Japan? Either you got... morehi, possibly this will answer some of your questions:
Motorola M1000 (Foma) exclusively present in Japan for DoCoMo GSM provider and it was a successor of Motorola A1000 - botth A1000 and M1000 run Symbian OS - not linux - these two models are comparably old announced 4 years back or so. The major difference between these two is that M1000 incorporates WiFi while A1000 has no wireless.
Motorola A1800 is the successor of Motorola A1200 Ming (first announced and mostly present in mainland China) - both run heavily customized linux platform (EZX).

1)A1200 released in Japan? Either you got the wrong model number (I heard M1000 was the one that released in Japan, being the successor of A1000 that runs on 3G), or wrong place (A1200 sold like hot cakes in mainland China, as Japan does "not" run on any GSM frequency except WCDMA GSM2100.
2)Moto is still trying to make a 3G phone with its favorite Linux platform.
3)Moto still focuses on GSM markets which "do not" run on the 3G frequency being used in Europe...being mainland China and US. Both countries contribute lots of sales for Moto in terms of global business.
Don't get me wrong, I make my mom to use 3G for v-call, though my in-laws have absolutely no idea about 3G...or will they switch to 3G anytime soon.

Wow this looks like a superb follow up to the A1000, hopefully they launch this on '3' (unlike the A1200 which was only available in Japan :( ) although looking at the specs as it has no to 3G that is a severe limitation. Surely that is a mistake in the specs as everyone is developing 3G phones now, 2G finished at least 2 years ago (I actually was one of the first in the UK to convert to 3G with an A920)

If you don't need CDMA, you probably need to look at A1600 instead.

i've had the a1200 for over a year now. very nice phone. no complaints what so ever! Reception is great on it. i wonder if a1800 will be the same? in the pics, a1200 looks better than a1800

Motorola is a good phone but they should change the models, they dont have range between 3500-5500, First of all change Abishek Bachan and bring Akshay Kumar "Singh is King".

selling for RMB5288 is very poor value for money. Most phones with that price range have great features. WiFi 11b/g, 3G should be standard features these days. This phone is destined to fail in market.

joe, 03 Aug 2008Have to keep in mind this is for China. They barely have 3G... moreFYI, China has launched its own 3G TD-SCDMA system months ago, and some sources indicated development of WCDMA in China will be further delayed to ensure TD-SCDMA is widely accepted.
In the meantime, chances are Moto won't be focusing too much on 3G handsets for the moment, even though it recently released the I800t, a TD-SCDMA phone which looks a bit like E8 (minus the omega wheel, of course)

Have to keep in mind this is for China. They barely have 3G even deployed, and probably they won't miss the WLAN. Us in the USA on the other hand, badly wanted those features.
While I could live without the WLAN, I wish the A1200 would announce the caller's name, and hope they added that.
