Great phone have been using it for a double of weeks now. Only minus which is a big minus is the ridiculously bad battery. This is supposed to be a phone butnafter a couple of hours of making a few calls and searching the web it's dead. I have a charger at home in the office and in the car but that is not a solution. Hate walking around with the charger in my hand. I don't care how amazing a phone is if the battery is weak then then phone is useless. Great phone shame about the lousy battery life. This phone makes the iphone battery which is not great seem amazing.

Confused South Afric, 31 Jan 2011Can someone please explain what this "lock" term ... moreAs sold, the phone is locked to be used only with

              1. Verizon's USA non-GSM service and
              2. GSM services provided by Verizon's overseas services.

An unlock code that was provided to me by the vendor (WElectronics) got it to work with my provider here in Pakistan (and I am told will work anywhere - EXCEPT the GSM networks of USA based providers like AT&T and TMobile).

Confused South Afric, 31 Jan 2011Can someone please explain what this "lock" term ... more"locked" phone means it is exclusive only to a specific service provide, so other SIM card cannot be used in that unit. "unlocking" means of course you can use other SIM from any service provider.

Can someone please explain what this "lock" term refers to. I'm planning to buy either the Droid Pro or the Milestone 2, but everyone is talking about the phone/service being locked. What does this mean to a regular user? And what does "unlocking" the phone mean for the service provided?

Motorola Droid Pro to get maintenance software update

Motorola has announced it is pushing a maintenance software update for the Motorola Droid Pro. Though this is not an upgrade to Android 2.3, as there is still one smartphone running Gingerbread, and more, it is not a Honeycomb. As we know Android 3.0 is being developed for mobiles but if everything would be OK, other devices will run it too like the Google Android Tablets that are going to be launched in March, 2011.

According to the official changelog this update brings:

Better audio on voice calls Improved stability and performance Global Mode no longer resets when connecting to a USB charger. Visual Voice Mail now detects airplane mode while Wi-Fi is active

The feel is great really well built. The battery life is fine as I use the phone and Internet a lot. It's a great phone and if one has a data plan definitely better than a blackberry.

Hey guys! Have some questions to you, as I can not waste a big chunk of money just to later find out, that the phone will not work for me...

I am planning to get an unlocked one from the US, and use it in Europe. My question is, if I use my SIM card, is the phone able to use all GSM and 3G frequencies?

Also, is it possible to turn off CDMA on the phone to save battery? (I imagine it uses a separate antenna using battery as well?)

Plus: Is it possible to upgrade the Android software on this phone later on?

                                Thanks guys!

I have used it for 2 days and it works very well. The only glitch was it kept crashing (requiring battery removal) when I placed an 8gb memory card. Once I switched to the shipped 2gb card, its working normally

No I meant between the cost of the phone the Fedex shipping paid different sites for the unlocking key which did not work and the hours on the phone from dubai to us talking to verizon came to a USD 1000. Unlocking here actually finally took a couple of hours and USD 30. I am just surprised why all the attention is for touch screens allowing blackberry to rule the market for qwerty phones for business use. If there was a htc droid keyboard I would not have wasted my time with verizon. First and last time.

For US$1000, one can probably even fly to US, open an account, and simply pay for the contract for 2 years in advance, and probably can get the phone unlocked immediately.

I paid around US$30 to unlock my Cliq last summer, which I thought was kinda expensive. Not sure if it should cost anymore to unlock this phone.

Too bad I already bought 8 Moto Android phones last year and this phone isn't exactly on my priority list, though still want to get one.
