        Patres87, 28 Oct 2014Why no card slot again just why ??? This an expense and is ... moresdcard slot breaks water resistance, which is a feature of this device.

        64 GB of internal storage is pretty decent. It certainly offers a lot more flexibility than older phones had... when eMMC was limited to 2-4 GB... or older, like the 256 MB NAND flash units. On those, you *HAD* to have an MMC slot just to store a few pictures.

        But essentially, there are two more basic reasons for dropping MMC;

        1) because end users will expect it to interoperate with windows, which means paying the MS tax in order to use an MS filesystem format, which yields highly unreliable storage.

        2) because end users will do stupid things, like ripping the card out without unmounting it, causing filesytem corruption and program crashing.

        On top of that, there are certain assumptions made about MMC cards, specifically involving data sharing. In the past, the MMC was the "dumping ground" for every program that you installed. Everything had access to data created by everything else. They're trying to do away with this concept and force applications to keep their data all separate. This is a very good thing for security, and you can always set things up to share data between different applications.

        But more than that, even though they still implement a shared dumping ground for legacy support, it is by way of a fuse layer that redirects to a path on the *same partition* as the secured application data storage paths. That means that you don't have to differentiate between storage systems where you install static data (like music), programs that you install, or individual program storage.

        It really simplifies a LOT on the developer's end, which allows US to focus on making everything better all around.

          If it has 5.5" screen, a micro sdcard slot and a removable battery, this will be the king after the G3...

                                AnonD-320944, 17 Oct 2014When you say Moto Play X you didnt mean Moto X thts already... moreMoto X Play. Is NOT the same as Moto X. The name itself is not particularly relevant, and is definitely not *confirmed*, but the device is.

                                If you look at the MODEL NUMBER of Droid Turbo, you'll see that it is IHDT56PK1 (some of the new Droid Turbo pictures show it etched into the bottom of the back). Along with it, another device passed through FCC checks, model number IHDT56PK2, which was described as "electrically identical" to IHDT56PK1, but added on support for UMTS over AWS frequency band. There are precisely THREE service providers in the WORLD that use UMTS over AWS... Tmobile US, Windmobile Canada, and Mobilicity Canada.

                                What this means, is that the second version PK2, is the "everybody besides verizon" version. I have speculated that the "Play" in the name, is for "Google Play Edition", and there were certain leaks made in the weeks leading up to the Nexus 6 launch that proved that Google was testing a 5.2" device as Nexus (FCC is not necessary for testing) -- which would have been the PK2. The Nexus 6 is IHDT56QA1 (usa) and IHDT56QA2 (global).

                                Which means that the IHDT56PK2 is still outstanding.

                                    gdentya, 25 Oct 2014tegra k1 its not dual core and its better than upcoming sna... moreYou do realize that they gave the same "tegra k1" name to two entirely different SoC's, right? The 32 bit one has 4 cores, the 64 bit one has only 2 cores.

                                    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Denver

                                    Not only that, but the qualcomm designs are far far more flexible... 8 core (4xA53+4xA57) big.little with global task scheduling (all cores can be turned on simultaneously if needed)... make a pretty good fool of nvidia.

                                        AnonD-324019, 26 Oct 2014No one really ever needs that much space. 32GB is perfect. ... moreYour claim about "more space is more change to corrupt" is entirely incorrect. The device uses a journaled ext4 filesystem, not the shoddy MS filesystem that you end up stuck with on most external flash disks.

                                        Typical external disk corruption is the result of unplugging a device with an unjournaled filesystem before it is fully synchronized, and yes, the larger the disk is, the more likely you are to be performing extremely long writes and end up more likely to pull it out before sync. Journaled filesystems can recover from this.
