sure its not a smart phone, but SE k700i is better than any nokia. disagree all you want, when you buy one you'll calm down...

was up in the moto station this am, inquiring about flashing and flexing my phone to the more recent version. They mentioned that if there was nothing wrong with the phone, dont mess with the s/w because there were instances wherein the phone's function was altered with the change in the s/w and the owners regretted it. Apparently, the s/w upgrades is Motorola's solution to fixing defective phones, so guys, if it ain't broke, dont fix it. Also, don't store too many picture files in your phone memory since it is one of the reasons why the phone lags. Happy Moto!

once & for all is ther a new version to e398 97r or not? and does it allow you to record video?

i think e398 is better than e330. i'm quite happy with my 398. hopefully the laggy problems will be gone after the s/w upgrade. other than that, it's a great phone. lots of memory and fabulous speakers. it doesn't feel cheap at all, unlike some nokia models. mine is the black model and, to date, it hasn't any scratches. think the rubbery cover is sort of scratch resistant. the screen is great too. it's visible even under strong direct sunlight. it plays both mp3s and mpegs, though video recording wld be great. the screen is also relatively larger than the e330. unlike other phones (k700i), the connection wire comes along with the package, for mine at least. w/o the wire, it's quite useless to have functions like mp3 players in the phone. and, the wires aren't exactly very cheap either. so, yea. e398 is a great phone.

i just want to ask if it is possible that the ringer ID of a certain person on my phonebook has a different SMS tone aside from the assigned default Ring tone and default SMS tone, coz sumtimes it confuses me if it is a call or just a text from the person I assign a ringer ID, btw my S/W version is 96R

Hi every1 can anybody tell me which 1 is better Samsung E330 or motorola E398 better???? I like E330 design and flip and my friends told me E398 is better so now i really have no idea which 1 should i buy........... PLz can any 1 tell me????? Thx.....

to ^-^* : as I know of, the software upgrades are really free in the MOTOROLA IBM bldg., Memo Express or MOTOZONE.
To shabbar : will have to reinstall my phone tools again for me to send you files.

To ^-^x : can u please try a gif file for me? i have been having trouble opening some gif files...the file would open once instead of a repeating cycle then immediately an error will appear "Corrupted.Delete?"
this has been bothering me a lot coz i tried opening the gif file with a k700, and there was no problem or error.im the only one having a moto e398 here in the office.so i need to check if it happens on another E398 unit.u can email me at the said email ad so i can send you the file.

to unknown; i agree with ^_^x about new firmware upgrades can solve your problems and also want to add that you could think a phone like a pc. If a pc memory is used 90% it's not gonna be fast anymore. Same for a phone software and memory. The less you have in it the faster it is, common sense. If you think this phone is heavy, there are lighter phones (that you can feel the difference when you hold'em) like panasonic gd55.thx.

i found the code. it is 000000. but there is a sign appearing in the upper part of the screen. it means line 1 is active (a reciever with number 1 next to it). i can't make it disappear. does somebody know a solution to that problem?

hi everybody
i just flashed/flexed my e398 to 95R and 7F. everything is just nice but i can't master clear and master reset the phone. when i try it asks me about a security code. has anybody else encoutered similar problem? i would appreciate any help.

is it true that if you flash to 97r you lose the ability to use the t-flash but you can capture video?

To Charlie-Hmm...if they're giving you a new one that shouldn't be a problem...I've had mine for five months and no problems at all.
To Smooth-so they do have the new flash at Motozone...so all I have to do is bring my phone there with my receipt and I can get the software upgrade for free?
To Robert-the instructions are too long....go to www.howardforums.com and search through the many threads there and you'll find out everything you need to know about flashing.
To Unknown-the sluggish menus can be solved with a firmware upgrade so the phone being slow is no longer a problem.
