I just got my E398 few days ago. It seems to be a pretty nice mobile phone. The only thing is I'm unable to connect my it to my pc using the data cable provided. I tried few times installing the mobile phone tools from the cd to my pc. But my pc keeps asking for the usb driver for the cellphone everytime when i connect my cellphone to the pc. Does anyone knows where can i get the usb driver?

MP3 quality is great and so are the pictures taken in daylight. The night mode really sucks, that is true.
The phone has nice features like: u can put security code to your inbox or other things in the menu so that no one else get there /// shortcut system is very good /// u can put several alarm clock in one day, this is nice. etc

Amazing Mobile!! Thats what i can say about this model, it has got each and every function u can ask for: mp3, expandable t-flash card, camera with 4x zoom and flash(the picture quality is better than nokia 6600)has got features like exposure and Brightness. I love taking E398 to Pubs, Reason:The phone has rythem lights, an amzing add-on to the features, the software is also fast when compared to k700i, Till now no software issues. The speakers are clear and Loud, gives good surround with mp3s encoded at 128kbps. The only feature which E398 lacks is a video recorder, The connectivity is good with Bluetooth and USB cables which comes free with the Mobile, u also get a Trans Card reader, Overall Bang for the Buck.......

I use my friend N6230's ringtones. The ringtones from E398 sounds better than Nokia 6230! Both are 24 chords, but E398 sounds so much better. :-)

Motorola! Please upgrade your phone book. nly one phone no. to a name. Why can't move phone no. from SIM card to phone? I don't need duplicate entries of the same person on the phone book. Cannot search pass the first character. No SMS counter. Otherwise, this phone would be perfect!

Just bought it yeserday it cost me Rs.14900 in indian currency, about 321 USD, I'm facing no problems as of yet.
Slow sms system? Nope, I don't feel it that way, I own a Nokia 3530, everything seems surely faster than that, and yes thanks to BrightSpark at Mobile-review.com and all the guys at Howardforums.com I'm quite enjoying my experience with the e398
PS. Maical go to www.howardforums.com and check out the Motorola section, you will find solutions for all your problems.

stupidlout, wow that was something I never expected.. Everything negative, which really has made me think about this phone. I was a hardcore Nokia fan, but I felt like changing to e398, with all its gorgeous features, yet within my budget. Looks like I'll have to get something else :( What should be my next choice?
Thanx for helping, it might have saved me cursing Moto forever.

These answers may help you, Sajal.
1. Is it possible to store multiple numbers against single person in the phonebook and some ppl complained of not being able to store in the phone memory [only sim memory]
No, multiple numbers are not stored under 1 name. If you wish to put in 5 numbers for a specific contact, his name will appear 5 times.
Contacts can be saved on the phone while SMS messages are stored on SIM.. I have heard that you can have it configured to be saved using phone mem instead but you have to have it serviced.
2. Is the extended clap feature available with the e398 in Indian markets?
sorry, not in india.
3. Will it be possible to transfer games [jad/jar] to the phone via the cable.
Yes, I've done so, but you'll have to use several software to do that. Its not user friendly when it comes to that.
4. And any other cons, you feel about the mobile.
Everything about the phone book. Camera is not that great - worst night mode.. MP3 ringtones should be stored on phone mem and not on expandable mem.. Can't turn bluetooth permanently visible to others.. VERY RARE software for customization.

TO: Unknown (2004-09-06 07:21:42). Please dont be pathetic and talk in such a sarcastic manner.. its disgusting do u know that? for everybody's 'knowledge sake' as u said, no one is saying that we doesn't know most songs are avaliable at 128kbps. furthermore, did alfred mentioned anything about ripping it at higher bit rate? gosh.. u gotta wake up ur ideas before bullshitting all ur 'knowledges'.
