olusadekola, 31 May 2023What would you be doing that would require over 512GB of storage? It's not necessarily about what you're using the storage for, it's about longevity. If I'm really planning on using a phone and get a new flagship, I'd want it to last for atleast 3 years, give or take a battery replacement along the way. Plus, SD cards make it easy to transfer data from one device to another.

I will never understand the reason why phone manufacturers are increasingly just not incorporating a headphone jack or SD card functionality, especially in their *flagship* phone. It's actually super annoying.

Being limited to internal means when full it has to force you to free up storage or use cloud when an SD card can prolong that. Although at 512GB, I start seeing the reasoning of using an SD card on a phone less. Even then, I'd rather have something and not use it than not have it at all, especially if you want your phone to last.

And then being forced to use wireless/bluetooth headphones is actually just awful. Imagine being stuck to using a separate battery powered item that'll eventually not last as long on a charge (because batteries) just to listen to media instead of it just being an option to do so. That's also not to mention mic quality, latency, audio quality, etc.

With Motorola, it seems when they get to flagship performance, they just axe these features now. I had the Moto G 5G Plus and I really liked it a lot, but performance was a bit lacking so I moved on. This was looking really good for me until that, looks like I'm with my LG V60 for a while longer. I just find it funny how their cheaper options have features that their best phone literally is devoid of lmao.

At this point I want LG to come back and do the V70 so there's actually something in today's hardware/performance while also having the sense to put in SD card functionality and a headphone jack in their *flagship* and not restrict those features to their lower end to annoy people massively when they look at their phone and it doesn't have all the essentials. Like what the hell, do you actually want my money or not lmao.

Optical fingerprint reader is a deal breaker for me, kinda the only reason to upgrade.
Really like the true stereo speakers, no repurposed ear speaker.
Like, just put plastic on the back and use the savings for features people actually care about.

They still sell PC/laptops with 8 GB of RAM, if a full fledged OS can do with that, pretty sure a mobile one can.

Compared to the Edge+ 2020 model: a few things have been improved but generally 2 steps back.

                                        8 gig on a 2023 flagship? On a 512gb model? Pffft...

At least it's not MIUI where RAM is irrelevant because it's the worst skin/UI to multitask on, because MIUI aggressively kills background apps even with battery saver off, with or without performance mode turned on.
And with proprietary fast charging, USB 2.0, badly inferior cameras, bad updates especially outside China, and bloat upon bloat on their phones with the worst OTG transfer speeds and no video out. Dirt cheap things to add isn't there.
Just their international ROM alone uses 3gb RAM idle. Their game turbo app removed the function to see GPU/CPU usage in MIUI 14, and replaced it with an FPS counter that measures FPS only in the app PiP window and not the game, it will tell you it's 60 FPS all the time with "before" 30-40 FPS when you know, and can see nothing has changed. It's almost like they degrade their phones over time on purpose to sell you a better phone.

Xiaomi 13 is asking for over 1000€ for Xiaomi 13, they think they can compete against the top brands.
