Meanwhile another China only market Phone from another manufacture just launched with 16 gigs of ram with a choice of 256 or 512 gigs of storage. Motorola on the other hand thinks this 8 gig bog is fine for the rest of us outside of China.

Everything looks reat, but no expandable storage, i would rather get a lowmidrange with es than this.

Not going to talk much on the Ram Because I believe this should have a virtual memory of upto 4Gb

The Pro, from what I understand, has 256gb of storage whereas the the Edge+ has 512gb. That may make a difference to some people since neither have a memory card slot. I'd personally rather have the larger storage over the extra ram since I can't add a card and the ram makes little difference. But that's just me. Your mileage may vary.

The biggest problem isn't just 8gb of ram but the fact the Chinese version of this phone, the 40 pro, comes with 12gb. This means they have removed and downgraded hardware and give no choice to the consumer that would want what the Chinese version already has. That is the issue.

thetechfromheaven, 20 May 2023Yeah, actually no. PCs don't need to crunch AI algoryt... moreYour chip is your problem, not the ram. My home PC has an i5-10400. Your phone probably has a Snapdragon 865. No comparison in performance. It's not possible the Snapdragon can keep up with even a modest home PC no matter how much ram you throw in it. Phone cpu's are limited by TDP and thermal throttling. If someone expects a 10w phone cpu to keep up with a 125w home PC cpu, they're going to be disappointed.

Use the tool for the job. Sometimes a phone is fine. Sometimes a more powerful tool is needed. Know the limitations of the phone and don't ask it to do PC tasks.

PCs don't need to crunch AI algorythms and power big camera sensors like phones do nowadays, I own the Moto Edge+ 2020 and to be fair, 12GB starts to feel short for some tasks. I really expected this phone to be at least 16GB but it's ridiculous that despite being 3 generations newer, it falls short in front of its predecesor in terms of specs and features.

Anonymous, 20 May 2023So does mine and I find very little difference between 8gb,... moreyes, of course, why do you put the pc in your pocket hahaha ridiculous!!! 8gb of ram in a phone is a thing of 2015 and more for that price range! fanboy

Anton-, 19 May 2023My pc has 32GB what are you talking about? So does mine and I find very little difference between 8gb, 16gb, or 32gb in a home PC in over 90% of the cases in home use. You are trying to convince me that 8gb in a PHONE isn't enough? Please. Why even worry about it if you have a PC at home with 32gb anyway? Use that for the heavy lifting and let your phone be a phone. Again, 8gb in a phone is plenty almost all the time.

Anonymous, 19 May 2023Tell me a single phone from 2015 that had even 6GB of RAM. ... morethe xplay 5.
and in 2016, half flagships had 6 already.
8 is enough, but if you use many apps at once you WILL have problems. your use case isn't everyone's.
