Tom, 20 Oct 2023It has App Lock. It has built-in app called Secure Folder. ... moreActually, Secure Folder app acts like App Clone tool too now that I think about it. It's basically a sandbox. When you add an app there, a clean copy is created. Apps inside this folder have no knowledge of what's happening outside and vice versa. So yes, Dual Apps is possible.

This phone runs most PS2 games (AetherSX2 emulator) in 1440p (4x native) at full speed. Less demanding games will run in 4K (6x native) full speed and more demanding games you might have to go down to Full HD (3x native) or less or meddle with emulator settings but most will still run at full speed. It gets only moderately hot during that. You connect it to a TV through HDMI, connect gamepad with Bluetooth and you have a console. Awesome! Remember to activate High Performance mode in Motorola Gametime app. It boosts the performance greatly. If you don't want the phone to discharge when you are playing on it you need to get the original Motorola USB-C to HDMI cable (part number SC18D02146, it has additional port for charging the phone) or some dock or hub. If it runs PS2 emulator which is very demanding so well, then it should have no problems running other emulators like Dreamcast, Gamecube, Wii, PSP, DS etc., not to mention older consoles.

Alvi, 12 Apr 2023Purchased this phone 12 GB RAM version, good phone but slig... moreIt has App Lock. It has built-in app called Secure Folder. You put apps and files inside it and unlock them with pattern, PIN or password.

It also has long/scrolled screnshot. You make a normal screenshot first and on screenshot preview there is a button on the bottom. You tap it and phone makes long screenshot.

It has speed dial as well, you just use widget from Contacts app.

As for App Clone and limiting Hotspot transfer you are right, the phone doesn't have them natively.

Anonymous, 19 Oct 2023Any heating issues while handling daily task??? Edge 30 fu... moreI have Edge 30 fusion and there are zero problems with excess heat. The phone is very cool, especially during normal daily tasks. Even when under load it doesn't get excessively hot. It has very good thermals. Edge 30 Ultra is quite a bit more expensive and has newer and more powerful chipset and more premium features + it's going to get Android 15 while Fusion will most likely stop at 14. So if you have money to spare I say go for Ultra. Though you probably won't notice performance difference during normal daily tasks.

Just got Motorola Edge 30 Fusion, 12/256 Cosmic Grey version on special offer for $450 and it's absolutely great, especially for that price. Awesome deal. I hesitated between Poco F5 and this phone and I don't regret going for Motorola. This review is for the newest T1SJS33.117-30-3-4 Android 13 software version.

Screen has very good brightness and color reproduction. In Natural color mode it looks close to what we see in real life. Screen is easily readable even in direct sunlight. Auto brightness works great once the AI learns your habits. Auto refresh rate works flawlessly and frequency changes are totally unnoticeable as well. I have no complaints about touch, it works good and there is no problem with accidential touches despite having curved screen. Under-screen fingerprint reader works good and fast most of the time, only occassionally it doesn't register the finger when we put it at a weird angle or the finger is too wet, dry or dirty but that's rather typical for under-screen readers.

Build quality is fantastic, it definitely feels premium and not plastic like Poco. I compared it to the newest Edge 40 at the store and the build quality of Edge 30 fusion is noticeably higher.

Cameras are great, I compared photos to Samsung S23 (which costs double the price) at the store and I haven't really noticed any difference. Night Mode is very good. There is no optical zoom but there is good digital zoom algorithm that makes up for it a bit. The phone automatically chooses when to use HDR, Night Mode and Flash but you can turn it all off if you wish.

Performance is still great thanks to over 2 year old but still mighty Snapdragon 888+. In the price range at which I bought it it blows all rivals out of the water except Poco F5 (but if Poco has the newest powerful SoC and low price then it means it cheaped out in other areas). There are absolutely no hiccups. Everything runs smooth. Some people were saying 888 gets hot but in my case there are absolutely no problems. It's the coolest phone I had, I'm actually impressed. Of course it can get relatively warm proportionally to what you are doing but it never goes above the comfort zone. 12GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage are a lot too. They can't really be filled under normal circumstances. This phone will still offer great performance for the next few years.

Sound from the speakers is very good. It's loud, not flat, has some bass and the top and bottom stereo speakers layout adds the surround feeling.

Many users and reviews complain about weak battery and I was a bit concerned about this but again I'm positively surprised. The battery easily gets me through the day of moderate to heavy use with WIFI/5G enabled all the time i.e 10-12 hours, from the morning to the evening. I think that's enough and you can't really call it weak. I'm sure that with lighter use and turning off WIFI/5G whenever you don't need it it could last you 2 days easily. Even if the battery is not enough for you then the powerful 68W charger makes up for it. It really charges the phone in the blink of an eye. 50% is the matter of 10-15 minutes and 100% in much less than an hour. And the phone doesn't even get very hot.

As for connectivity, I haven't noticed any issues. The voice is clear on both sides. Vibrations are pretty weak and you probably won't feel them in your pocket unless it's tight. The phone is very thin so the vibration motor is not very big as well. GPS works ok. Max 5G speeds I achieved in my area is 280 Mb/s download, 40 Mb/s upload. Bluetooth seems alright, I connected mouse, keyboard and gamepad all at once and everything worked fine and dandy. I don't have bluetooth headphones or speakers so I can't tell you about that.

Software is clear Android 13 but not quite. There are some features added by Motorola and what's most important they are not just frills for the most part but actually useful and well thought out features. Gestures for turning on the flashlight and camera quickly are very useful and convenient. The system is highly personalizable too. Of course the software is not 100% perfect, it has a few quirks or bugs. Most of them are not very annoying and you can easily live with them. The weirdest thing is that there is no true Always On Display. Why? I don't know. There is something called Peek Display and it basically looks like Always On Display except there is no option to display it all the time. You can only make it turn on when you touch the screen or move the phone (or both). If you are interested, it doesn't turn on in your pocket, I checked. The proximity sensor is working. The awesome thing is a feature called Ready For, equivalent of DeX in Samsung. You can connect the phone to a TV/monitor either with cable or wirelessly and use it as a PC or game console. It displays a desktop similar to Windows. You can even connect mouse, keyboard and gamepad with Bluetooth at the same time. Works like a charm. The SoC is powerful so it will run a lot of games and emulators. Just make sure to use HDMI if you plan to use it for gaming. On USB or wirelessly the latency is too big to play comfortably. On HDMI there is no noticeable latency.

I have no complaints about the hardware part (except maybe weak vibrations). There are a few minor annoyances in the software, the worst probably being no true Always On Display, but even still you can live with them. Maybe they will get fixed in the future too. Motorola really did a great job with this phone. It exceeded my expectaton. Great deal for the money! My rating is 9/10.

If I were you, I would go with Motorola instead.

The phone definitely has software issues, screen is fantastic, camera is great, not waterproof or water resistant. Just stick to the flagship if budget permits. Battery life 1 day, and this is without gaming, only WhatsApp, crome, and general standby. For the price point definitely moto has thrown in all the bells and whistles! Hence i was a sucker to for it. Dual sim support is mainly for calls and sms/data . There is not native dual app settings such as Samsung offers. So good luck getting that done , i found a work around installing Shelter app! That kind of partitioned the phone which then allows you to install apps dual, (and it is add free) the Google wallpapers app stop working after Android 13 upgrade which is a let down after having such a sick display.
