It is a superb phone ! I had it for almost a year and it ticks all the boxes.
Some cons:
- Heats up while watching YouTube or on call
- Battery life isn't that great

Device has already updated to Android 13 a long tome ago. I don't know why they didn't update the page to show that...

Hell, strange this has 6 GB of RAM with 256 GB of storage, anyway, PixelOS 14 got support for this phone, so if you don't want to wait for a long time to update, PixelOS has got your back

Settings -> Configuration of modes -> Camera modules -> Exposure correction. Set HDR+ Enhanced correction to x2 ISO

          And for BigKaka GCam (v 9.1) it's:

Settings -> Lens setting -> Main lens -> Image processing -> Profile 1 -> Extended Settings. Set NS Max Exposure Time to 240 ms. THEN you have to activate Profile 1 using the Profiles button on top toolbar in the viewfinder.

Note that Max Exposure Time setting is not available in all GCam ports and versions.

Maybe Lenovo/Motorola can do better camera optimizations with the Android 14 update for our phone model. You shouldn't need to run gcam to get good results.

Cameras in this phone are actually good because main cam has flagship grade OmniVision OV50A sensor and selfie cam also has good Samsung ISOCELL S5KGD2 sensor. Photos are bad because Motorola's software is bad. Once you install Gcam it starts taking incredible photos. Colors and lighting are basically true to life, HDR works perfectly and the amount of details is amazing. It takes photos like a good class compact camera, I'm not joking, see for yourself.

You have to install BigKaka Gcam 9.0. It's the only one currently where you can get the highest photo quality with no issues or artifacts. When you install it you have to:

                1. Go to Settings and select Pixel 8 Pro in Device Interface
                2. Go to Settings -> Lens setting -> Choose lens and leave only ID = 0, 1 and 3 checked
                3. Go to Settings -> Lens setting -> Main and set Device Interface and HDR+ Model to Pixel 8 Pro
                4. Do step 3 for other lenses too
                5. If you want true to life colors, do not press the AW button on the top bar. It makes the colors warmer with a reddish tint.

The only issues are that Night Mode/HDR Enhanced freezes when it's too dark (happens on all GCams) and recording videos doesn't work. But for photos it's absolutely fantastic.

It makes some noise to appear in low light and darker places but this is the basic law of digital photography: more noise = more details as the photos are not processed as much. No more artificial oil painting look, everything looks super crisp and natural. I guarantee you will be blown away by the level of details on the photos. This is standalone digital camera quality. Here's how to do it:

                  1. Go to Settings -> Configuration of modes -> Interface and change it to Pixel 8 Pro

                  2. Go to Settings -> Configuration of modes -> Camera modules and set "Model" setting to Pixel 8 Pro for every camera

Selfie camera on the Stock app sucks, photos are too soft and blurry and out of focus and the colors and white balance are off. BUT - install GCam and it becomes great again! Details are back, colors and white balance are great, the difference is night and day. It's not like the selfie camera is bad (it has Samsung ISOCELL GD2 S5KGD2 sensor), it's just that Motorola screwed up their software. I use BSG GCam port and it works nearly perfect with Edge 30 Fusion out of the box and I read it's the most compatible port for Motorola phones. Plus, it's being updated and improved weekly.

                    -------------------------------------------------

                    INSTALLATION

Installation is really simple. Just download the BSG GCam apk from celsoazevedo page (Google it), install it and that's it. Don't get confused when you see few different apks to download inside one GCam version. You can install any, they are all the same and differ only by package name so that you can install multiple versions at once.

                    -------------------------------------------------

HOWEVER, it doesn't mean that GCam is better for all kinds of photos, because it's not. Main camera performs significantly better in low light conditions on Stock app. If you want to get the best camera experience out of this phone you basically have to use 2 apps at once as follows:

                    USE GCAM FOR:

                    - Selfies (the difference is extreme in all light conditions)

                    - Main camera good light photos (Stock app is strong as well but GCam still does it better, the difference is not extreme but it's there and it's noticeable and worth it. More accurate colors, lighting reproduction, HDR, exposure and white balance. The biggest disadvantage of stock app is when there is a lot of backlight, for example you photograph a tree and there is a bright sky behind it. The whole scene becomes too bright and washed out while Gcam handles it with zero problems).

                    - Wide camera (all lighting conditions)

                    USE STOCK APP FOR:

                    - Main camera low light photos and night mode (GCam's Night Sight looks a lot worse, denoising algorithm is too aggressive and the image loses too much details + the colors are off. The same happens when you use flash. Stock app makes really great and impressive low light and night photos)

                    - Zoom (same case as above - GCam has too aggressive denoising and the fine details are lost. Zoom, even if only digital, looks really impressive on the Stock app)

                    - Additional features and quirks like slow motion, timelapse etc. (I don't recommend using GCam because those features might not be as compatible with the phone as the Stock app, i.e they might not work as good and could crash or freeze the app)

BOTH ARE MORE OR LESS EQUAL IN:

                    - Macros
                    - Video (I compared 4K 60fps videos)

IN SHORT - use GCam during the day and for selfies, use Stock app at night and you are golden.

                    -------------------------------------------------

TIPS TO GET THE BEST POSSIBLE QUALITY OUT OF BSG GCAM

                    1. Keep Google AWB on
                    2. Go to Settings -> Configuration of modes -> Interface and change it to Pixel 5a 5G
                    3. Go to Settings -> Configuration of modes -> Camera modules and change JPEG compression quality for each camera to 97% to ensure the best possible picture quality. No need to set it higher as the laws of JPEG compression state that there is literally no difference in visual quality above 97% except the file size will be much larger.
                    4. When you launch the app you will see 2 options for front cameras - 0.7 and 1.0. 1.0 is main camera an 0.7 is Wide and Macro camera. There is no separate button for Macros since they just use the same camera as wide photos, so don't search for it.

                    -------------------------------------------------

                    PROBLEMS I NOTICED WITH GCAM:

                    1. Night Sight freezes when in very low light. You tap the shutter button and you wait and wait but nothing happens, you have to restart the app. Maybe it will get fixed eventually but who knows. But Stock app night mode is much better anyway so just use that.
                    2. Do not set HDR to off. It freezes the viewfinder and you can't take photos. Just leave it on HDR+ or HDR+ Enhanced.

It's basically a sandbox. When you add an app there, a clean copy is created. Apps inside this folder have no knowledge of what's happening outside and vice versa. So yes, Dual Apps is possible.

This phone runs most PS2 games (AetherSX2 emulator) in 1440p (4x native) at full speed. Less demanding games will run in 4K (6x native) full speed and more demanding games you might have to go down to Full HD (3x native) or less or meddle with emulator settings but most will still run at full speed. It gets only moderately hot during that. You connect it to a TV through HDMI, connect gamepad with Bluetooth and you have a console. Awesome! Remember to activate High Performance mode in Motorola Gametime app. It boosts the performance greatly. If you don't want the phone to discharge when you are playing on it you need to get the original Motorola USB-C to HDMI cable (part number SC18D02146, it has additional port for charging the phone) or some dock or hub. If it runs PS2 emulator which is very demanding so well, then it should have no problems running other emulators like Dreamcast, Gamecube, Wii, PSP, DS etc., not to mention older consoles.

It also has long/scrolled screnshot. You make a normal screenshot first and on screenshot preview there is a button on the bottom. You tap it and phone makes long screenshot.

It has speed dial as well, you just use widget from Contacts app.

As for App Clone and limiting Hotspot transfer you are right, the phone doesn't have them natively.

The phone is very cool, especially during normal daily tasks. Even when under load it doesn't get excessively hot. It has very good thermals. Edge 30 Ultra is quite a bit more expensive and has newer and more powerful chipset and more premium features + it's going to get Android 15 while Fusion will most likely stop at 14. So if you have money to spare I say go for Ultra. Though you probably won't notice performance difference during normal daily tasks.

Just got Motorola Edge 30 Fusion, 12/256 Cosmic Grey version on special offer for $450 and it's absolutely great, especially for that price. Awesome deal. I hesitated between Poco F5 and this phone and I don't regret going for Motorola. This review is for the newest T1SJS33.117-30-3-4 Android 13 software version.

Screen has very good brightness and color reproduction. In Natural color mode it looks close to what we see in real life. Screen is easily readable even in direct sunlight. Auto brightness works great once the AI learns your habits. Auto refresh rate works flawlessly and frequency changes are totally unnoticeable as well. I have no complaints about touch, it works good and there is no problem with accidential touches despite having curved screen. Under-screen fingerprint reader works good and fast most of the time, only occassionally it doesn't register the finger when we put it at a weird angle or the finger is too wet, dry or dirty but that's rather typical for under-screen readers.

Build quality is fantastic, it definitely feels premium and not plastic like Poco. I compared it to the newest Edge 40 at the store and the build quality of Edge 30 fusion is noticeably higher.

Cameras are great, I compared photos to Samsung S23 (which costs double the price) at the store and I haven't really noticed any difference. Night Mode is very good. There is no optical zoom but there is good digital zoom algorithm that makes up for it a bit. The phone automatically chooses when to use HDR, Night Mode and Flash but you can turn it all off if you wish.

Performance is still great thanks to over 2 year old but still mighty Snapdragon 888+. In the price range at which I bought it it blows all rivals out of the water except Poco F5 (but if Poco has the newest powerful SoC and low price then it means it cheaped out in other areas). There are absolutely no hiccups. Everything runs smooth. Some people were saying 888 gets hot but in my case there are absolutely no problems. It's the coolest phone I had, I'm actually impressed. Of course it can get relatively warm proportionally to what you are doing but it never goes above the comfort zone. 12GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage are a lot too. They can't really be filled under normal circumstances. This phone will still offer great performance for the next few years.

Sound from the speakers is very good. It's loud, not flat, has some bass and the top and bottom stereo speakers layout adds the surround feeling.

Many users and reviews complain about weak battery and I was a bit concerned about this but again I'm positively surprised. The battery easily gets me through the day of moderate to heavy use with WIFI/5G enabled all the time i.e 10-12 hours, from the morning to the evening. I think that's enough and you can't really call it weak. I'm sure that with lighter use and turning off WIFI/5G whenever you don't need it it could last you 2 days easily. Even if the battery is not enough for you then the powerful 68W charger makes up for it. It really charges the phone in the blink of an eye. 50% is the matter of 10-15 minutes and 100% in much less than an hour. And the phone doesn't even get very hot.

As for connectivity, I haven't noticed any issues. The voice is clear on both sides. Vibrations are pretty weak and you probably won't feel them in your pocket unless it's tight. The phone is very thin so the vibration motor is not very big as well. GPS works ok. Max 5G speeds I achieved in my area is 280 Mb/s download, 40 Mb/s upload. Bluetooth seems alright, I connected mouse, keyboard and gamepad all at once and everything worked fine and dandy. I don't have bluetooth headphones or speakers so I can't tell you about that.

Software is clear Android 13 but not quite. There are some features added by Motorola and what's most important they are not just frills for the most part but actually useful and well thought out features. Gestures for turning on the flashlight and camera quickly are very useful and convenient. The system is highly personalizable too. Of course the software is not 100% perfect, it has a few quirks or bugs. Most of them are not very annoying and you can easily live with them. The weirdest thing is that there is no true Always On Display. Why? I don't know. There is something called Peek Display and it basically looks like Always On Display except there is no option to display it all the time. You can only make it turn on when you touch the screen or move the phone (or both). If you are interested, it doesn't turn on in your pocket, I checked. The proximity sensor is working. The awesome thing is a feature called Ready For, equivalent of DeX in Samsung. You can connect the phone to a TV/monitor either with cable or wirelessly and use it as a PC or game console. It displays a desktop similar to Windows. You can even connect mouse, keyboard and gamepad with Bluetooth at the same time. Works like a charm. The SoC is powerful so it will run a lot of games and emulators. Just make sure to use HDMI if you plan to use it for gaming. On USB or wirelessly the latency is too big to play comfortably. On HDMI there is no noticeable latency.

I have no complaints about the hardware part (except maybe weak vibrations). There are a few minor annoyances in the software, the worst probably being no true Always On Display, but even still you can live with them. Maybe they will get fixed in the future too. Motorola really did a great job with this phone. It exceeded my expectaton. Great deal for the money! My rating is 9/10.
