This is the result if EU policy. The EU is junk, so why should I have expected any different from their technology promises.
My $350 Oppo is running Android 13 yet my flagship Motorola Edge 30 Ultra is still running 12. The company doesn't have an idea of when it will be updated. Like Crucial, I'm totally unimpressed with another EU tech. company.

All other companies soon rolling out Android 14 but for motorola Edge 30 ultra still got Android 12 and the is no sign of Android 13 as promised to customers. We ultra users got scammed by Motorola ( Flagship phone wht thy called it) so if u wanna buy moto phns be prepare for the worst experience

yes it´s camera has some focus issues on video, and camera could be better, but still very good, at least for me.
I don´t know the reason, perhaps they want to justify the Edge 40 pro. That´s the only reason i see not to update. Still very dissapointing, but don´t worry.
Moto will see a decrease in sales on their 40 series and now you know, nexto phone, chosse a Pixel or better yet, an iPhone. I know i´m getting the latest soon as I get bored with this Edge.

It's a fine device, fast and fluid , the screen has the upper hand with it's 144hz screen, you won't find on a pixel or a nothing phone 2
Camera results are good you won't be disappointed, simply not as brilliant as a pixel or an iphone.
I recommend, I like mine, moto gestures and peek display work very well too, super fast charge and wifi charging is a nice addiction too. Top notch performance , better than current pixels.
Last but not least ready for, works really nice to use your smartphone as pc or connect to a Smart TV

Should I get this phone for 499$? I waited for pixel, it's disappointing, pro is very costly. Only alternative is waiting for nothing phone 2. But I don't like first one's gimmicky design. I don't really care about Android update as long as it's smooth and bug free.
8+ gen 1 with premium design available under 499$ is very tempting.

I guess Motorola will update this phone to Android 13 when Android 15 beta will be out on other phones. The company is not living to its expectations. Instead of releasing so many phones update your recent phones to latest software. We don't want quantity we want quality.

Don't buy they don't give you the android update it's just a scam and will even respond to you if you ask for update

Love the phone...but there's a but...phones are 30% hardware...and the rest software..but why so notoriously bad for updates...still lagging behind for being a flagship phone..your mid-rangers are out thr6box with the latest software and security patches...Moto or Lenovo need to look after their customers...200mp camera and all the rest mean nothing without up to date software and patches.

Second worst camera on MKBHD voting. Only Sony Xperia 1 IV was even worse. I don't know if it's truly accomplishment or just beyond sad.
Regarding updates... So far, in AER database:
1) Security updates until September 2025.
2) Phone is not yet validated for Android 13, so at best, there is no way Motorola will push for retail before June. Again, at best.

I have also done battery drain test with intense gaming and YT videos along with social media and i still got 7.30 hrs to almost 8 hrs of SOT. Only flaw this phone has is it still on Android 12. New update also added portrait video mode in both front and back cameras and they work okayish. The SD 8+ Gen1 is really well optimised by company and i have not heating complaints or outdoor visibility issue.

writing this incident after 5 months of usage, came home after work and connected my phone to charging, surprised to see after some time that the phone wasnt charging and my battery had infact dropped. came to know that it was showing "connected,not charging". i kept trying all the options and finally my phone died. took it to authorised service centre, they couldnt find the problem and told me that it will take 4 5 days to provide any solution. this is my experience of a 65thousand rupee phone and this is my 2nd bad expeience with motorola. i dont think ill go with moto again ever. now its just a thing about trust.

After a 21 hours usage I got 7.30 hours of SOT yesterday with still 6 hours to go before the battery will be fully drained (took a screenshot of the same). My phone is on 'Auto' refresh rate with dark mode on and brightness fixed at 65%. Also,I did not play any game but watched a lot of YT videos, social media and read lot of e-papers along with Kindle e-books.
Previously I used to get hardly 6.5 hrs with identical settings.
Exciting! But, alas, still no Android 13 update......
