you could said the same as the charging port, which is also a part of "mechanical" parts and collects dust and moistures just like headphone jacks do. if phones became hole-less or maybe port-less, how are you gonna charge the phone? wireless charging? hell nah. doing a firmware recovery or wired transfer off a computer?? it is also a big no. which makes the entire device useless. if it breaks, you toss them out and buy a new one.

About the jack is just a hole which is good for catching dust and moisture and needs plenty of cables to work. Reason it get rid off.
Even if i would made my own phone i would try to be as close to Meizu Zero as Possible.

Mechanical parts are fir... morei dont remember when sd card and 3.5mm jacks are mechanical parts. as there are no motorized stuff. just holes and slots, inserted manually by end users. pop up cameras makes sense because they wear out over time. depending on usage. since the iphone 14 pro max trend, android phones would remove sim slot too. sooner or later.

YUKI93, 09 Apr 2023He does, or else he won't make such a worthless commen... morefrom what i remember, sony made 2 flagship device without audio jack. which is the first gen xperia 1, and xz3. they did made a bit of mistake with those two devices. and they are going back with 2nd gen xperia 1. that is where i started getting interest in xperia phones, they barely survive unfortunately. the market didnt catch on..

Mechanical parts are first to breaks. Reason companies stop making motorized camera pop ups, stop making jacks, SD slots etc. Soon even sim tray gets removed.
