Tt, 03 Aug 2024Repairability on the Motos is decent enough in relation to ... moreYes, especially cheap models are really repairable.
For example moto g9 power screen replacement cost like 15$, battery 10$, back cover 4-5$, type C module 5$. Parts are really cheap.

I think Qualcomm snapdragon 7 gen 1 it not bad and have a little advantage in faces of MediaTek equivalent because this processor have Vault-like security
Yet another first in the Snapdragon 7-series, Android Ready SE delivers highly secure, tamper-resistant hardware for safekeeping digital keys, IDs, mobile wallets, and more.
    Vault-like security suite
First Trust Management Engine (TME) for enhanced security in 7-Series! Not bad! Sound good!

They do not require any special tools, and most parts are modular. Edge 40, 50 and G-series from the last two years are easy to repair. Most of the stuff is modular - the USB port is on a separate board (unlike Pixels for example), speakers, cameras are "modular" as well. Battery is not too difficult to replace as well. Replacement screens include the whole frame, so not too difficult to do either.

The problem with Moto repairability is parts availability and parts prices. Genuine parts are hard to find and are expensive. Was recently looking for screen replacement for an Edge 40 Neo - in Europe a genuine display+frame combo, adhesive and shipping (171 Euro) cost 85% of the price of an almost new Edge 40 Neo (200 Euro, used, boxed with warranty in practically new condition). We ended up buying the used phone and sold the broken one for parts.

The SoC will be fine enough for everyday tasks. What bothers me is still the poor software support from Moto. The firmware for most models still has bugs, Moto is slow to push out updates and slow to squash the bugs. The support period (4 years total) is also a bit lacking compared to other companies and compared to the increased prices for most of their devices.

I think 3 major updates, 5 years of total support and better quality updates will make them an ideal choice for most people.

Releasing a phone with only one ram/memory option is beyond me... Like this could be a great phone for me looking at other parameters and then I'm seeing 8/256..And depends on a price but that's not a progres for me.

Telephoney, 02 Aug 2024ufs 2.2 is a bad news because is has a great impact in app ... moreThat and the usb 2.0 port are always bizarre to me on anything other than budget phones. The moto edge 30 neo, their budget edge phone from 2 years ago, had usb 3.0, and last year's edge 40 had ufs 3.1. And then they just downgrade those things in future models.

Neat design and most of the specs are nice for the price range except for...UFS 2.2

ufs 2.2 is a bad news because is has a great impact in app opening time. They should have put ufs 3.1 and this could be a all rounder phone.

2 years android update in 2024?🤣

Boldpixel, 02 Aug 2024This 7 gen 1 AE is actually as fast as Dimensity 7200 lol. ... moreYeah. This device does seem interesting. I like how it supports a very wide range of frequencies (which makes it a good world phone), probably has excellent GPS like the G34 and Edge 50 Pro (or at least decent and it can't be worse than the Edge 50 Fusion), and also has a telephoto camera. Motorola is even giving 15 Watt wireless charging at this price point. Definitely a very tempting device.

The only two drawbacks I can think of are:

                        (1) The device is probably going to have a low repairability score, like all recent Motos.

                        (2) The SOC has severe heating and throttling issues to begin with, and this one is using a slightly overclocked version.

I guess we'll just have to wait for reviews and see.

This 7 gen 1 AE is actually as fast as Dimensity 7200 lol. This phone is actually interesting. Good cameras, decent processor and battery and durable.
