Motorola Edge 50 Fusion review
Design build quality handling
Whether it's the shape, the materials or the colors, Motorola just has a way of crafting exquisite-looking devices, and the Edge 50 Fusion is no exception. It both looks and feels elegant in the hand. Its body is quite thin at 7.9 mm. The back and the front curve towards the middle frame, which has nice rounded corners.
Let's start with the backside. Even though Motorola doesn't mention Pantone's involvement in the choice of colors for the Edge 50 Fusion, the design is equally attractive.
Each of the three distinct color options also comes with its own material and finish for the back. Our Marshmallow Blue review unit has a vegan leather finish that feels incredibly soft and delicate. It tends to attract some lint and dirt, but it more than makes up for it with its looks and feel.
The Hot Pink color variant is finished with something called vegan suede. We haven't seen that one in person, but we imagine a fine woven fabric-like texture. Finally, there is Forest Blue, which is just described as having a "smooth matte finish".
Just to reiterate, we adore the look and feel of our Marshmallow Blue unit. It is a very subtle blue in person, even though it comes through as off-white in photos. And the feel of the incredibly fine and soft texture is just superb.
The Edge 50 Fusion has a pretty standard control set and layout. The power button and volume rocker are on the right-hand side and pretty well-positioned height-wise. They are on the thinner side since the middle frame itself isn't particularly wide, either. Tactile feedback could be better, but it's not too bad either.
Both sides of the display curve are rather aggressive. There are some display bezels, enough to hold a few sensors like the light sensor and proximity above the display and conceal them nicely along with the earpiece. Even so, we wouldn't call the bezel situation excessive by any means.
The phone uses an under-display optical fingerprint reader. It is both snappy and accurate. We have no complaints regarding it.
As mentioned, the Edge 50 Fusion both looks and feels very premium. Motorola has done an excellent job with the middle frame in particular. It is color-matched with the back side pretty well, and even though it is plastic, it pulls off a metallic sort of finish, at least on our color variant.
The back side is also made of plastic. As for the front, it is covered by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
While some might shrug at the prospect of plastic, we continue to stand by its excellent qualities. It is quite structurally sound and rigid, without weighing too much. The entire Edge 50 Fusion tips the scale at just 175 grams. Plastic also doesn't dent quite like metal or shatter quite like glass. Plus, there is absolutely no flex or hollowness to the Edge 50 Fusion.
It is well constructed, and the Fusion also has "full-fat" IP68 ingress protection.

While it is a very unlikely use case for someone to play FHD 2x the speed, the phone does stutter at higher playback speed in Youtube. Howver 2k videos play without issues at the normal speed.

249,00 € right now in Amazon Europe (Spain). I think there's no other device better for that price.
