freelunch, 04 Dec 2024You mean it is selling at that price in Saudi Arabia?Indeed. MENA has the lowest average prices for smartphones, and they tend to get updates earlier than the rest of the world (judging by Nokia and being early to adopt Android 14 on MENA market phones, and Apple seeding minor iOS updates frequently for their devices). You can refer to their online stores (not widespread, but still it's enough to get a general idea) for pricing.
Ironically, everything else is expensive for a typical middle class Asian person earning a measly, monthly income.

bork, 03 Dec 2024Now this is even more confusing. If my comment was not abou... moreIt is only confusing for you because you did not understand that I was making another point that is seperate from what you were talking about. My point was a bit more abstract and ambiguous in nature (I did mention "idea" a lot). I suppose not everyone understands what I truly meant.
Discussions do not necessarily have to relate with each other in a linear or even in a logical fashion, you realize this right?
> "𝙞𝙛 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙙𝙤𝙣𝙩 𝙖𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 50 𝙁𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙞𝙨 𝙖 𝙗𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙥𝙖𝙘𝙠𝙖𝙜𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚 30 𝙁𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣"
I thought I made it very clear in my last comment that my opinion does not matter too much since the final decision is up to the buyer's preferences/priorities. But since we're on this topic, yes I don't really agree, but again this is because we value different things in a phone. Let me be clear again, your points are also not wrong, but regardless of which phone is the "better package", I think price will still be the biggest factor. Whichever is cheaper for the buyer may "win". I hope this also makes it clear.
P.S. If you just want my very general take, I think both phones are great in their own ways, and I think it's slightly unfair to discredit either one, not implying that you are. I've always been a fan of Motorola phones.

NeonHD, 30 Nov 2024> 𝗠𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗗 𝟴𝟴𝟴 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗽... moreNow this is even more confusing. If my comment was not about the SD 888 being a good or a bad chipset, why do you keep insisting then it is a good chipset ? As if someone is argueing with your statement. As I said my first post was not about the chipset raw power but about the value package that the 50 Fusion offers. So honestly, I think your comments are missing the point since my post is not connected to your initial statement in any shape or form. if you dont agree that the 50 Fusion is a better overall package compared to the 30 Fusion, then you would have to take into account a bit more than the phone chipset, e.g build quality, screen size and brightness, sound, SW support and optimization, battery, IP rating., as these are the things that make up a phone package. I hope this makes it clear.

Well, my comment was, and I will keep on insisting it is a good chipset, especially on cheap refurbished flagships from 2021. Like I said, custom ROMs are the solution to extended support for higher Android versions, and Motorola is one of the last few brands that allow their bootloader to be unlocked. But clearly this does not apply to you; I am only speaking from someone who mods and tinkers with their phones.
I understand you are persistently trying to make the point that the Edge 50 Fusion is a good phone, and I won't deny this. Motorola is a good brand anyways. It really just depends on what you value in a phone. For example, having a 1.5K+ display resolution is something I greatly value, but this may not be true to you. Having a powerful chipset is also more important to me than software updates, but again, this may not be true to you.
So I am in no position to tell anyone which phone is better, because everyone has different values. All I am saying is the SD888 still packs a punch in 2024. I did not wish to imply anything more than that.

I cant really think of any other SD 888 phone model that is supposed to get the A15 update. Anyways, I understand better overall package as a combination of more modern HW, certain premium features like IP68, 144Hz screen + longer SW support. My comment was not about whether SD 888 is a good chipset but rather that it will become obsolete in a short while without software support. In fact it has become obsolete as no SD 888 model offers any SW upgrades and the chipset is not being manufactured any longer.

I see no direct correlation between chipset and number of Android updates. That's entirely up to the company's decision with regards to the length of updates. One company could support for 5 years while the other 2 years.
And besides, in my case with the Mi 11, I have the option to use custom ROMs. But I'd assume that is not your case. So obviously we are coming from two different sides here.
My comment really wasn't to argue whether 50 Fusion is better or worse for the price, but rather to express this idea that, every few years, there is one flagship chipset which represents the minumum standard of good performance; one generation behind and it just ever-so-slightly struggles with today's demands, or should I say today's standards.

NeonHD, 24 Nov 2024It's not past its glory yet.
I remember back then,... moreYour daily driver might not be the right choice for me and vice versa. SD 888 could be a daily driver for someone who doesn't mind being stcuk on A14 forever.
I use the phone for work and I need to always have an updated OS and security patches.
Plus, I can compare the 50 Fusoin to the Nord 3 which I had for 2 weeks before i returned it. Even with a Dimensity 9000 chipset ( superior to SD 888) the Nord 3 didnt feel that much faster, if at all, compared to the 7s gen2. The overall experience was similar. And honestly I think the screen of the 50 Fusion is better than the Nord 3, despite having a lower resolution. So when you look at the overall value and functionality of the 50 Fusion I really think it offers one of the best packages in this price range and even more.

bork, 16 Nov 2024While it is superioir to 7s gen2 in alsmost every way, the ... moreIt's not past its glory yet.
I remember back then, there were flaship chips that are considered old, yet still gives great performance of its time.
From 2019-2021, it was the SD835 that I considered to be "old but gold".
And from 2021-2023, it was passed to the SD855.
Now, in 2024, that "old but gold" chip goes to the SD888.
My idea is that these old but gold chips represent a "bare minumum" to be considered worthy for daily driver use.

Anonymous, 25 Oct 2024The snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset inside Edge 50 Fusion can b... moreWhile it is superioir to 7s gen2 in alsmost every way, the SD 888+ is way past its glory and will never get the Android 15 in the 30 Fusion model. This makes it a bad investment even for the near future. It probably only makes sense to buy the 30 Fusion if you dont really care about system opitimizations and new Android features or in case you need the ample power of the chipset for gaming or other GPU/CPU intensive tasks.
For a daily driver, the 50 Fusion offers a better overall package. These are the hard facts.
