It's purpose is only to protect against scratches and in that case gg3 is better than gg5. But if you drop the phone on the floor screen protector is not helping and in that case gg5 is better than gg3. I don't care about small scratches that collect slowly over time, don't even notice them when the screen is on.

Edd, 13 Sep 2024The only reason I am still not 100% sure to buy this phone ... moreYeah, this is one of the few weird decisions I couldn't quite understand. Even the 50 fusion which sits below 50 Neo in the pecking order sports GG5.

Nevertheless, the difference between the two is not very significant; in fact GG3 provides better scratch resistance at the cost of lower shatter resistance. So in case you use your smartphone with a back cover (which would largely take care of protecting your phone against drops), GG3 would in fact be slightly better.

RaviSS, 13 Sep 2024This device is the closest to the 'ideal mid-ranger... moreThe only reason I am still not 100% sure to buy this phone is the gorilla glass 3.

Even my current 5 year old phone has gg5.

This device is the closest to the 'ideal mid-ranger' I have seen in the recent years. Of course, in its price range, it might be a bit behind the competition in some dimensions (such as processor, storage speed, battery life etc), but none of these are deal breakers, and is more than compensated by the dimensions where it punches above its weight (LTPO display, Telephoto lens, 5 years OS updates, IP68 rating, Wireless Charging). On the whole, it is a very balanced package, especially for the price.

I hope this device gets a lot of success, so that Motorola give higher attention to 'flat' edge-series devices (pun intended). A wishlist of the improvements I hope to see in the next iteration (even at the cost of a slight price bump):

Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 (or an equivalent future Mediatek processor with 4xA720 cores)
Better Display protection (GG Victus or at least GG5)
                                  UFS 3.1 and USB-C 3.1
                                  4500+ mAH battery

Can you not put 2 physical sims in this phone? I don't understand why they're forcing to use esims.

Nikojas, 11 Sep 2024Did you get it yet? I'm waiting for battery test revie... moreI'm also eagerly waiting for battery reviews. But one user said that with his normal use (I know it's very subjective but hey ho) charging it to full charge by 7am he finds he still have 85% by 4pm and battery drains 1% every 5+ minutes. That for me is short of amazing having those specs and chipset.
I'm really tempted and having a 10% coupon i am THIS close in getting this device. I don't even know if the discount has an expiry. That would bring it down to £359.
                                      What do you think?

redgefr, 11 Sep 2024To give you an example, I unplugged my phone this morning a... moreFor a phone that still have 85% by 4pm and 1% drain every 5 minutes sounds like Motorola has optimized the whole thing with the display, memory management and battery all working together with the Mediatek chipset. This I think is the advantage of having a near-stock UI vs a bloated Hyper OS of Xiaomi or Samsung's Exynos devices.
I'm really tempted and having a 10% coupon i am THIS close in getting this device.
But may I ask is your Location turned on? Do you use bluetooth devices at all? Apart from Youtube do you listen to say Spotify or podcasts? Have you set your Display to 120Hz or Auto? Auto brightness turned on? Have you installed third-party launchers or just the normal Hello UI?
