RemytimeLive, 16 Apr 2024I'm going to be real with you, Micro SD cards are not ... moreSo you back up my point that certain things need them, i say this, some devices (not phones just imo) need them, otherwise get a portable ssd. You say samdisk do a 1.5tb card, ok well samsung, WD western, toshiba, samdisk, ugreen, can keep going, do bigger storage options for cheaper so for a phone a portable ssd makes more sense.

Also using the ultra version of galaxy phones that uses a stylus doesnt help you here, yes because they designed the phone to have it to increase cost to the customer and 5000mah battery is tiny for a device that big (my find x5 thats got a 6.5 inch screen and way smaller and lighter body has a 4800mah,phones this size and even smaller with 5000mah). It gives them a better unique selling point (a stylus with BT integration and can take pictures with it etc vs an micro SD card that just holds data and is slower than inbuilt storage, cloud storage and portable ssds and more expensive per TB of storage).

Also you clearly dont understand what very clever and good engineers have to do to make sure a SoC with the power of a laptop can be passively cooled in cramped space while including 5 camera modules, a motherboard and whatever else in a body thats what, less than an inch thick (my find x5 is literally about 10% bigger in total volume than my galaxy s7 edge which has a smaller battery and screen, only slighly taller than my lg g5 (same width and depth) which has a removeable battery, hesdphone jack AND card slot which the battery is much smaller and screen is about 5.3 inches at 16:9 vs 6.55 at 20:9).

Adding a jack (and a stylus port) creates structural weakness which means thousands in developing construction for the phone and part placement to make sure the phone is useable and doesnt have failing parts for years on end or shatters to pieces when hitting the floor. People dont want huge bricks like those construction site phones with 8k+ mah batteries but complain when prices go up and dont have a bunch of features that increase the amount of issues phones get, we seem to want indestructible devices that are almost 2d for space saving and we want 5 day battery when running basically laptop grade SoCs, its actuslly hilarious.

I also grew up through the 90s, 00s having devices with card slots and Jack's when wires and micro SDs were the only plausable way to get music or more space that i used FOR YEARS, we have BT and super fast in built storage with cloud which ive solely used now for 7 years, ive literally lived through the improvements and used the tech for the past 24 years snd the new tech is completely superior to old school jacks and slots.

Cpt.Power, 27 Apr 2024Well had same results all data been lost. Thus i understa... moreAbsolutely nobody was talking about anyone's lascivious desires... if your intent, is to attempt to devalue an anon using some cheap, coercive allegation, then that speaks volumes to the person you are over anyone else discussing a phone and it's features.

I appreciate that you can at the very least admit that an SD card has purpose and value, rather than slamming other people for simply wanting a feature you don't have to use, which was the core point I was trying to discuss. Expandable storage, should never be seen as a bad thing. Why you feel the need to be explicit is another thing altogether. Is that more self-reporting, like your data loss? Really, that kind of conversation is pointless here.

Thus i understand the value of SD cards but dont rely on them as something inportant.
And if you have a phone with lot enough disk space SD card is not needed.
I am not a p*rn hub member or user which must have entire galery in phone just like several other people bragging for SD cards.

Cpt.Power, 23 Apr 2024Bro nice story but average cards on market have 10 megabyte... moreMain failed to understand what I am writing, and then also spreads misinformation on top of it. While SD cards are slow, the slow ones of them have 30MB per second still.

And Transfering 1000GB in 10 secounds works by removing your SD card from your old phone and putting into your new phone.

Swift , 27 Apr 2024Why everyone is concerned about headphone jack and SD card.... moreBecause A good 550€ Bluetooth headset still gets beaten by most 100€ wired ones.

The same speakers will also sound slightly better on Aux compared to Bluetooth, as Bluetooth needs to compress your music, Aux doesn't.

If you want peak Audio quality there is no way around wired.

Why everyone is concerned about headphone jack and SD card. Doesn't it costs a weight to phone? They are things of past. If one is dealing with 999$ phone ,one should keep a budget of 70$ for a good Bluetooth headphones in spare.

Jack, 23 Apr 2024Hahaha battery 🔋🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣It's their catch , they don't want uses to use their edge phones more than 2 years , so in 2 years the battery will be weak, either wanting you to replace the phone or battery, anyway their profits.

I transfered my data from my phone to another device in other words said card been moving across 2 devices twice a week or so.
in 3 months first pop up about damaged card appeared. I could do nothing just format it and lose all data.
Within next 2 years said pop up about damaged card which needs to be formated happened 6 more times.
                  No thanks.
Cards are maybe usefull if you plan to use it with one device for as long as device keeps working.
                  Othervise they are useless.

For another example using Western digital elemebts 2TB 2,5 inch external HDD with more than 1600 movies stored in dsk and another 300GB of family herlooms called photos and videos from my current phone and previous 4 devices. Also using this HDD between 2 computers so i plug it in and out at least twice a week. After 10 years of use had zero issues .
                  Unlike said SD card.
Had two of said cards and both had issues.

So once again if you keep your card in one phone for as long as you using your device and it keeps working you shouldnt have any issues but transfering it from one t another device at least twice a week caused said bricking and all my data been lost.

Cpt.Power, 23 Apr 2024Bro you funny. Average SD card on the market is 10 megabyte... moreWell, at least you awnsered my question about why you seemingly hate SD cards, but not the entire question. But at this point, it's personal spite and ignorance on your end. Spite, because you had personally lost data, and ignorance because you refuse to use SD cards and don't know they are much better than they used to be in 2011. I've had a dozen of the things for various devices. Only one broke. The one from 2011, because of an old Android 4.2 device I had, became infected and wrote constantly to the SD card. The one in my current phone (4.5 years old) has zero issues and loads hundreds of photos in near real-time.

Like it or not, all phone storage, internal or external, is all flash NAND storage (same for PC SSDs), and all of it has an expiration date, or more precisely, a TBW limit. (Data Volume Write Limit) There are low quality cards, and even scam brands that make terrible SD cards, just do a little research for purchasing online, or buy from a local tech store and stick with well known brands and you'll be fine. Yes, there is the slim chance you'll get a dud, but that happens with everything. Last I knew, about 1% of all PC hardware is faulty in some way and most of it is sent in as an RMA. It happens.

However, none of that explains why you hate the idea of the hardware giving you the option to use extra features, which you personally don't have to do. So why is it such a problem for you to accept that others almost need it for their workflow? Are you also super upset that some phones have an IR sensor? These are features you do not have to use, so why get upset that someone else can make use of it, when it's inclusion doesn't take anything away from your experience with the same phone?

Probbably this caused the bricking of the card after 3 months and in next 2 years said card been bricked like 6 more times.

Average SD card on the market is 10 megabytes a second reading and writting speeds. Fastest dont even reach 100 megabytes. 1TB of data will take eons and will make your phone very hot whole time.
Even slow for this time UFS 2.0 is way faster.
Cables are always better this way they are faster.
The moment some guy just calls you will break up your transfer and you can go again.
By the way chance your phone gets bricked is less possible than chance your card gget bricked.
Had 256GB samsung evo card and just after 3 months of use when i put it back to my phone from my PC it said card needs to be formated before use and all data been lost.
250GB of family heirlooms called photos and videos were gone.
Just 3 months from buy. No other option to save data card got bricked i had to erase everythign and then it worked again for like 2 mon ths or so and got bricked again.
Chance you break your phone or get bricked is much lesser especialy if you dont have a low cost device but upper midranger or flagship.

Fa14bi, 23 Apr 2024I have an UFS 3.1 Phone with 256GB storage, and I would hav... moreBro nice story but average cards on market have 10 megabytes of reading writting speeds. There is no way you copied 1000GB in 10 seconds. No phone can do that nor memory card.
Something else is few HDD or SDD internal or external discs but for card or phone is not possible to copy 1TB in 10 seconds.

By the way as your phone can get bricked your card can brick too. Had 256GB samsung evo and after just 3 months of use when i put it into my phone pop up appeared saying your SD card needs to be formated before use. All my data family heirlooms pictures and videos were lost.
                                    Cards are useless PERIOD.
by the way chance your card bricks are way greater than chance your phone gets bricked especially upper midrangers and flagship devices.

Cpt.Power, 22 Apr 2024Well some dudes dont understand and still relly on SD cards... morewithout an SD card, you either have to store your data on someone elses PC (cloud) or do it what stupidly enough most phones still use , connect your phone with your USB 2.0 and have it transferred with a by Experience whole 5MB per sec (SD cards can do Up to 130MB by now, but again, you literally just Put it in).

To put it in perspective, you would need about 56Hours of consistent cable data connection without any break ups by PC just going standby for example to transfer 1TB of data.

And even if you have to move things to an slow 50MB per sec sd card, it will do so in less than 6hours, and it won't just break up over night, and you can still use your phone everywhere while doing it, and then you can always still directly access everything after having moved it.

Unlike cloud storage, PC backuo or External SSD.

Cpt.Power, 22 Apr 2024Well some dudes dont understand and still relly on SD cards... moreI have an UFS 3.1 Phone with 256GB storage, and I would have rather had an slow storage extension I can access to at all times and have secured even when the Phone itself breaks, than doing it with an External SSD. (currently using a 2TB one, 1.3TB used, all stuff from my phone).

And also have the ability to transfer one Terabyte of data to my new phone within 10 seconds, by just putting an SD card in.

And once the SD card in my old phone saved me, as after an Android Upgrade, the phone got bugged and the Storage was set to read only and couldn't be read via my PC. But what did work was just moving the Stuff on the SD card, reset the phone, move the Android Folder back.

There is also always a chance lf the mainbord for example breaking and the Phone just not booting up, regardless of if you have 128GB or 1TB of internal fast storage, with something like the Mainboard broken, your data is gone.
