Lisa, 21 Jun 2008Hi there, bought a 4gb micro sd hc card for this phone, but... moreI actually read somewhere that SD cards 4GB and larger have a different format on them to the smaller SD cards, and those devices that recognise the format on the smaller SD cards won't recognise this new format. I think the K1 is one of those devices.

I've had this phone for.. a year now, round about.
I've been... MOSTLY happy with it. It looks sweet, it's nice and slick, decent camera, pictures look good on it and I don't mind the sound I get playing back MP3s.
The biggest (BIGGEST... which is biig for me) is texting. Texting is a huuuuge pain in the butt on this phone (or possibly all Motorolas? This is my first Motorola so I couldn't say).
1. default text style is Predictive Text. You cannot change the default, you have to manually switch to normal text style every message if you want to.
2. "Normal text style" is too slow. There is about a 1.5-2 second delay if you want 2 letters on the same button (eg double 'b').
3. The dictionary is limited. While the word suggestion feature is kinda nifty, the words suggested are... not quite so clever. It seems the word "haha" doesn't exist in motorola's language, as it instead tries to suggest "gaia" every time I write "haha".
Also, when the phone does finally learn a word, it forgets it again about 2 messages later.
4. I don't like the keypad... clicking all those keys is a very rough and sloppy business on this keypad. The keys are a little stiff, not quite so comfortable, and it's more than easy enough to click the wrong keys when texting.. quite often.
Another little thing is someone before mentioned their phone is scratchless... they must either not text much at all, or they have no nails, because all the paint around the numbers on my keypad are scratch off. Perhaps it's because I press the keys with my nails... unfortunately, it's too difficult to text on this keypad withOUT nails. Certain keys won't click, or the wrong ones will by accident.
To finish this excessive post off.. while I'm happy with most of the features and spec of this phone (battery life could be better..), texting is a pain in the butt.
If you don't text much and just want a sleek, sexy phone to make calls with, it's a great phone.
If you plan on texting a LOT... get a Nokia. Motorola is just a pain in that area.

I have had my KRZR K1 since it came out. The biggest issues are:
a. Battery life. This site lists the talk time as 6 hours, but after 2 hours of talk time - it's down to 2 batteries. Another half an hour, and I'm lucky the phone isn't dead. And yes, it's definitely the phone - I have 3 replacement batteries! I will NEVER use Motorola again for this aspect!
b. The glass gets marked up and scratched very easily. Too many cracks and not very durable.
It's a sexy phone, but if you're going to talk a lot on it like I do - you're better off with another brand than Motorola.

brilliant phone but just noticed that with all the security features on it, if you are playing music on the handset, you can actually enter most of the menus without entering the security code! what's up with that Motorola??

Steven_T, 25 Jun 2008i have this phone K1 can anyone tell me why i can't downloa... moreI have a razr with a 1Gig SD card, but I think the princapal is still the same. I think your problem is that you are not putting the songs in the correct location. With my phone, you have to put the songs in the audio file, and they might need to be converted form mp3 to mp4 or AAC files so your phone can play them.

This phone has a Jack in the side that The charger and headphones can plug into. My phone came with a USB cord and a set of headphones. The MP3 player is very cool, However the phone only has 1GB of Memory, so if u want to put lots of songs on, u will need a memory card.
Overall, A Great phone.
Camera could be better, but hey, its good enough for me :)

Bought today 190608. First impression nice looking unit checked out the interface for a while found it fairly easy to get long with Keys a little different with the raised rubber surrounds Feels solid in the hand nice flip action with the spring load to it I have the Black unit A little slow on start up but once going menu seems ok Shame has no flash but in good lighting found it to be quite good surprisingly it was evening in a lamp light room the first photo and it came out good Nice and compact better than its larger V series brothers like the the nice easy photo function buttons on the side. So for its money AUD$149.00 its good value

i think motorola spends more effort on the looks and the endorsers.. like david beckham.. hehe. somehow they need to focus on the features.. this is a excellent looking phone but poor features.
