I have read your opinion and highly valued it but then, considering that I am from the Philippines and there is no longer a moto store or service center here, plus the fact that I really love my phone. Will the superoneclick work for me or is it area specific :D thanks

Saurabh, 10 Mar 2011Guyz who have updated their handsets to 2.2froyo.. Please t... moreWow, it let me post without registering. Ok, let me add more info to my previous (and rude) post:

Android 2.2 (froyo) will slow down your droid significantly. Pictures will now take ages to render, key touches will be annoyingly delayed, and in general it will feel much more sluggish as it wastes cycle processing the extra useless code.
If that wasn't enough of a user annoyance, it also adds extra 'features' to try to make it more enterprise ready but in reality just makes it harder to do things (like a screen lock is now required if you use exchange for mail)

Much like windows service packs, this upgrade does nothing for the actual end user who is shelling out money. It merely fixes background code mistakes and heads off potential lawsuits to google, at the owner's expense.

Anyone with an Android phone should IMMEDIATELY root it to benefit from all the great (ie Google/Verizon/ATT not getting a dime) apps available out there like Root explorer, adblocker, and Titanium backup. Once rooted you can turn off all the background crap Google puts on there to track your habits and force sell you the Gmail/Facebook/amazon lifestyle.

To root a 2.2 Froyo Droid for free:
                    1. Find a computer and install "SuperOneClick"
                    2. Put your droid in debug mode (apps>dev>debug)
                    3. Run SuperOneClick on computer to enable user access to root account
                    4. Reboot Droid
Now you have a complete Linux laptop instead of a handheld billboard for Google.

Turn off those always on advertising services, re-enable your ability to tether, and just generally get what you paid $500 for!
