shailesh shukla, 26 Oct 2010Is is possible to use video calling with Motorola milestone... moreThis phone does "not" support video calls, even though I would like to.

I think only Samsung Galaxy S supports video call as of Oct 2010, ALL other ANDROID phones do not support video call at this moment.

Hello to all Milestond users, I love my milestone it is awesome in everyway.
The only thing is that it is killing me on data charges. I purchase 500megs each month without using it my megs it will chow them down in background. In a space of maybe one hour it will take at least 5 megabytes without me using it. is there anyway I can put this to an end. Please help.... thank you in advance...

After overclocking to 1Ghz or 1.2Ghz, the battery will drain faster, isn't it ?
Have you measured this aspect ?
How long stays in StandBy after overclocking to 1Ghz let's say ?

VINCENT, 23 Oct 2010Do other network companies in South Africa other than MTN h... moreHi Vincent.
I'm in Durban and only MTN stock Milestone. I went to 3 shops to find one out of the box so I could look and feel it. First 2 shops had no dummy models.
It's going for R269 on MTN Anytime 200 which includes R200 worth of airtime (per second billing) and 25 SMS per month. You can get Anytime 100 @ R209 p/m (extra R60 for R100 airtime is better).
The catch is that you can only use 20% of R200 for data (ie R40 which is 20mb at R2 per meg). If you want more data, you must buy a data bundle as an add on extra, but unlike Vodacom, it has to be a bundle on contract ie 300mb @R149 or 500mb @ R189 per month. Works out a bit expensive and as Milestone seems such a good phone for internet browsing and downloading applications from Android Mkt, you are going to use a lot of data. On Vodacom, you can buy a once-off data bundle and not be tied into a contract.
If Vodacom had the Milestone, I bet you would have to pay in a huge amount to get it on a Weekend or Top Up contract (I was looking at a Corby Pro with keyboard and good downloading rate - 7.2 but they wanted me to pay in almost R500 up front. Milestone is so much better, so imagine what the pay-in would be! I do prefer Vodacom to MTN and have had bad experience with Cell C.
Motorola is also not marketed very well in SA (as it seems in Australia).
PS. If you overclock the processor, won't it void the warrantee (2yrs on MTN)?

the main disadvantage of this phone is internal storage too small, even upgrade to froyo, still can not install app as many as we want. because some app not allow to move to sd, even the app that allow to move to sd, only some part of app is moved, other part still using our internal storage... that is very disappointed.

Hi, bought this a few weeks ago. Love it but I have been a long time lover of Motorola, sadly though its not well marketed in Australia. Its easy to use, the screen is brilliant, its fast, love contacts, SMS. The slide out keyboard is a bit small and takes a bit of getting used to, but once you have mastered it you can fly along. And it automatically fills in ' for dont etc. Love that. The end bit that seems to hang over the edge is a bit annoying, not sure why that is. But its a minor issue. If you don't want an iPhone I'd certainly recommend it. But seriously, mobiles are such a "personal" thing, what one might love, someone else might hate. But I really love it.
